(1) loyalty -- meaning treating my best interests as just as important to them as their best interests.
(2) sensitive honesty -- meaning the ability (and use of that ability) to help me improve myself without causing me to feel hurt.

Someone that will be there for you and help you. And for me its true usually i don't like the person and they end up being a good friend.

i have had one of my friends for fifteen years. she and i have had fights, and lost touch numerous times, but we always seem to get back in touch. we live a thousand miles apart right now.
i think any personal relationship takes compromise, and understanding. what characteristic? someone who gets my messed up sense of humor and likes me for who i am, not what they can use me for.

I have only a few. They all like me and I tolerate them kicking my but when needed... and vice versa \i guess.

I married one, that was (after 13 years) a big surprise.
