How come I keep getting this message about selective startup mode choose normal mode?

It happened when I tried to uncheck somethig from the startup frrom the System Configuration utility. After I uncheck it it says restart or exit without restart. Then I get a message about it has to go back in normal mode and when i do put it in normal mode the boxes have been uncheck again.

The message is just a warning that you have made a change to the startup lists. Windows wants you to know that you are not using everything. You do have to restart to make your change effective.

But if you really want to uncheck those items, just restart and ignor the message!
