In North America:
1000 - thousand
1,000,000 - million

1,000,000,000,000,000 - quadrillion
....followed by quintillion, sextillion, septillion, nonillion, decillion......

In Britain it's different:
1,000 - thousand
1,000,000 - million
1,000,000,000 - thousand million
1,000,000,000,000 - billion
1,000,000,000,000,000 - thousand billion
...followed by million billion, thousand million billion, trillion, thousand trillion, million trillion, thousand million trillion, billion trillion ...

1,000 trillion = 1 quadrillion
1,000 quadrillion = 1 quintillion
1,000 quintillion = 1 sextillion
1,000 sextillion = 1 septillion
1,000 septillion = 1 octillion
1,000 octillion = 1 nonillion
1,000 nonillion = 1 decillion

Personnally, I would say that 1,000,000,000,001 comes after a trillion, but that's just because I think in integers. If you are looking for a number (real or rational) that comes after one trillion, but doesn't have any other numbers between them, I'm sorry, but you are out of luck. The density of the rationals in the reals prevents that :(.
