The lid is for people who can exercise self control, are health conscious and do not have a propensity for over indulgence. Did you know that in Russia, the home of Vodka that all bottles are sold without corks or lids. If is assumed that once you open the bottle the entire contents will be consumed. This is a contributing factor to the high degree of alcoholisim in this country.
