When you've spent too much time around a big talker, someone that doesn't talk at all may seem like an ideal alternative. But think about it. When someone never talks, you don't know what they are thinking or feeling. You don't know where you stand with them. After a while that can drive you even more nuts than being with a chatterbox.

It depends on the situation - I'm usually someone who talks very little or not at all, so actually it's far easier for me to have a conversation with someone who talks a lot because they fill in all the gaps. It only gets annoying when I want a bit of peace and quiet, but then I'm intolerant like that...

You need to be able to look past the reason for the person not talking or talking to much! Psychology works in mysterious ways and as a person being able to adapt your style to control both individuals is an amazing skill! This is something that we can all develop within ourselves and become extremely confident communicators! People who talk to much may do so through their own nerves and similarly this may very well be the same case for those who talk to little!
Listen to the words people use when they communicate with you!
Touchy feely people will use the following:
I feel really scared!
People who see the world in pictures may say the following:
This looks really scary!
People who hear the world in sound may say the following:
That sounds really scary!
If you can listen for the key words and then adapt your language to match soon you will have them either talking away or having a sensible conversation at a sensible pace!

that's an interesting question. I do find someone who talks non-stop without any breaks for me to say something is very boring. I am not interested in being an audience. I'm interested in dialogue, a two way conversation.
Otherwise I feel like I don't exist and I hate the feeling. I've know many men like this.
On the other hand someone who doesn't talk at all is also very boring. I feel like they are withholding their thoughts from me and communication is impossible as is emotional intimacy not to mention friendship.
I was married to Mr. Silent and it drove me crazy!!!! I want someone to talk to.
But if I was forced to choose I would take a person who talks too much over a person that doesn't talk at all.

Lolz I can be accused of talking too much and too fast sometimes but I’ve never been told its annoying I mean at least I’m not dull >)…hmm so I would say not talking at all I mean certain moments require a bit of silence I agree but all the time its just boring being around someone like that..

Definitely people who talk too much who , in my opinion just do so because they love the sound of their own voice.
Silence on the other hand is Golden and is a sign (more often than not) of absorption of ideas and understanding.
Anyone who teaches always take a liking to students who listen and do not interrupt - for they are usually the ones who understand concepts and think about things more deeply.

I think it depends. If someone is quiet because they are shy then that's fair enough, you can try and bring them inti the conversation or something. If they're taking things in that's cool too, but some people can be aloof and that can irritate.
I think someone who has too much to say is probably the most annoying. I think they just like to hear the sound of their own voice. And that sucks.

The one who doesn't talk! You can force someone to stop talking (if s/he talks too much), but you can't force someone to talk if he's not the talkative type. I have friends of both types and the non talking is worse, but that's only my opinion!! It' really annoying and tiresome... Because then you're the one who has to talk all the time, 'cause the other one doesn't talk at all! And it's even harder if that someone is your boyfriend or girlfriend...!! But then... Suite yourself!

I think talking too much is the most annoying thing that a person could do without physical contact. Especially if they have an annoying voice.

people who dont talk at all are more annoying because with someone who talks too much you can tell them to shut up but someone who doesnt talk is annoying because you cant have a convo with them and theres one of those awkward silences lol
