Ethics is a somewhat broader term than morals. Ethics refers to the branch of philosophy which looks at things like good and evil and morality. Moral in contrast refers to a persons beliefs about what is good and bad. So you might say he has a christian morality or he his a moral nihilist.

Originally, none. The Greek word *ethos* means "habit"; the Latin word *mos* (genitive case *moris*) also means "habit". However, the words may be used as contraries. For example, Peter Berkowitz wrote a book titled "Nietzsche: The Ethics of an Immoralist". Nietzsche called himself an immoralist because he was against "morality", i.e., what is usually thought moral. He said this morality was life-negating and slavish. He opposed this with what he called "master morality", a morality that was life-affirming and noble. Thus his ethics were the ethics of an immoralist. Of course, there is no such word as "ethicality". If there were, and Nietzsche had used that word instead of "morality", Peter Berkowitz might have titled his book "Nietzsche: The Morals of an Inethicist".
EDIT:
Perhaps a better word than "habit" is "custom". English is not my native language.

There can be a moral to a story.. not an ethic. Morals by definition are good. At least to the one having them that is.
Ethics are a little more...uhm...shifty. You could postpone your ethic reserves to do something and after be just dandy. Your morals would not survive this.
Ethiccommities exsist because of this discrepancy. If it were for moralcommities there would only be one punishment, capitalpunishment... wrong is wrong.

Ethics are "valid regulations" drawn as a lot as modify the customarily immoral habit of professional human beings. The Unions contained in the united states are maximum hated now, yet they arose from the shortcoming of ethics and morals of the enormous 3 motor vehicle Makers contained in the mid-30s, at the same time as the yankee center type became being exploited horribly bby enormous money.

In the most basic sense, morals refers to knowing the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Ethics is knowing how to apply morals, and having the strength of character to do so even when it is inconvenient :)

Beyond the dictionary definition, I was always taught the following:
Morals are society's survival rules for the individual and
Ethics are the individual's survival rules for society
Always liked that answer.
