If you want to erase everything at once, use iPod Updater. It can reset the iPod back to factory settings and your iPod will be blank.

If you want to delete just certain files off of your iPod, go to Edit> Preferences> iPod (tab) > Music (tab) and tell it to Manually manage songs. This way, if you don't want a song on your iPod, you can view the songs on the iPod and right-click and press clear. It will only remove the songs from your iPod, not your Library.

As for photos, I suggest making a new folder on your hard drive and placing a copy of the photographs that you want on your iPod in there. You have to tell iTunes to choose what picture folder you want to have loaded on your iPod. You can choose what folder you want by the directions above, but by choosing Photos instead of Music.

If you plug it in - go to iTunes and right-click the song you want to delete and hit clear and then it wil ask you a question - hit remove. To delete photos - wherever you have your photos sychronized from - just delete them from that folder. Example: I have my photos sychronized from a folder called Ipod photos. I brought them there from other folders. So i can delete them from Ipod photos folder and they will still be on my computer, just in other folders. So delete the photos from the folder you have them synchronized from. If you want to delete them without plugging it in to your computer then I don't know but I will research. Hope this answers your question.

i'm not sure if you can without plugging it in to your computer. Otherwise you can total reset it, but it'll wipe everything clean
