Different reasons:

*They've been taught to hate them
*They are hypocrites who claim to love God but ignore his word to love one another and not judge
*They fear what they don't understand
*They focus only on the sexual aspect of the relationship refusing to understand that there is much more to any relationship, gay or straight
*They believe that all gays/lesbians fit into stereotypes and don't realize that there are gays and lesbians in every walk of life and you find them in all kinds of families - even the so-called "conservative" ones.
*They don't realize that if all of the gays and lesbians had never been born many of the masterpieces of Literature, Art and Film would NEVER have been created
*They are afraid that if they allow themselves to like a gay or lesbian person it might mean they too are gay and would suffer being ostracized
*They are just unhappy, hateful people who need somebody or some group to hate

I try to understand and be cool and I get people rolling thier eyes at me like I wrong for trying to be cool about something my parents raised me not to accept. I make my own choices but sometimes gay people alienate straight people and we get defensive. Everyone has this urging need to classify themselves as something but then in the same breath say it doens't matter. Why do you need the classifiacation so bad then? Furthermore I am Christain and with Love and kindness has God drawn me so thats the way I feel others should be drawn. I don't hate anyone, I think people try to open up and be real with a gay person and sometimes Gay people see it as an opportunity to treat some one the way they get treated. Hate begets Hate. All of us americans are family whether we care to admit it or not. No one Hates like family.

Simply because people are SIMPLE... I'm not saying it's right, but, you can't force a person to change.I'm not,but, I used to have friends in school and they were lesbians.It wasn't a problem for me,that is their life and they were cool with me just like i was cool with them, i used to imagine how it would be to be with someone of the same sex,but,their are things they do i couldn't imagine.I never tried it and never really thought of it since.Yet, i still speak to anyone i see like that , their life is thier life.It's no different than being racist of any culture. Just Be You!!!!
