Most people won't really take it hard. But you can try to be more sly about it. Ask them if they remember an event or what year they graduated high school (then add +17/18 years). I don't know many people that really don't want to say their age though.

Here is what you do...start a conversation and say things like "when I was 18 my favorite show/music/hairstyle was____" and then see if they contribute and then if they do maybe you will get an idea of their age, or it will give you an opening where it is logical to ask the question.
Or you can ask if they have siblings and then if they are older or younger. Then you ask how old the siblings are.

How well do you know this person? If it's merely an accquaintance, than say; "Do you mind if I ask you a personal question?" If the person says go ahead, then simply ask. Be polite about it though, "May I ask your age?" is appropriate. Not, "how old are you?"

depends on the age if you think there over 30 don't ask. If its a teen girl or something just ask i don't think that they will mind.

tell them your age and say "u look so young how young are u "( instead of how old are u) if they tell u say "u look beautiful'
