Make-up: Lots of black eyeliner, bright pink lipstick, heavy foundation makeup and powder, lots of blush, and I remember a lot of teal colored eyeshadow.
Hair: Crispy bangs with tons of hairspray-usually curled under, maybe a little flip in the bottom if you have shoulder length hair-again lots of hairspray! Also, the front of your hair(over your ears) pulled up on top of your head in a scrunchy. There were always dozens of girls with scrunched up, crispy, curly hair.
Clothes: We wore leggings almost every day. Denim mini's with a cute surfer-type t-shirt. Keds and bobby socks, or penny loafers, or flats. Just remember to have lots of bright colors. Or, fancy dresses with big, puffy sleeves if you want to go more formal, and lame' was becoming popular, too in formal attire.
Don't forget the dozens of bracelets and big earrings, and you must chomp on chewing gum like you have no manners at all! Good luck and have a great time!!

Almost everything you'd need you can find at your local thrift shop (Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.) Get some tight cotton pants (the kind with elastic straps over the foot, if you can find them), and pull some brightly-colored socks high over them. Wear a short denim skirt over the leggings if you can find one. All jewelry must be plastic and brightly colored; go for large earrings or necklaces. Look for black and white, hot pink, or bright green clothing items- those colors were typical. Hair should be in a ponytail on the side of your head, and if one of your friends has a crimper, crimp your hair in tight frizzy waves.

This will be more like Halloween than you have ever dressed before. The 80's were extremely scary!

The pictures on the following sites should give you some ideas.

Well, it's a little to hot for the had to have members only jackets. Mini skirts (not to mini) blue jeans, Lee, Levis always in. You must have legwarmers no matter how hot. If you dont know what that is ,it's like a sock that went between your knee and ankle, kind of hung around the top of your shoe. You ware them on top of your jeans or with your mini skirt not to short. lots of bracelets on your arms. Big,Big hair up on the sides so you can see your earrings, which are big. Wear flat dress shoes in load colors with jeans. Lacey tops, lots of makeup. I think the best thing you could do is go get you a teen movie from the eighty's one like Desperately seeking susan, The breakfast Club, punk was just starting out thats without all the black gothic look, it was about bright colors, big hair when I say big I mean look at some of the male rock bands they even had big hair. Get the movies, I hope I helped I was a teen in the eighty's. Good luck,

80s Clothes For Girls

Boxy shirts and stretch pants. Lumpy clothing: full skirts and button down shirts, collars buttoned all the way up. Tease and fluff your hair up on top. If you frizz your hair out, it will go a along way towards that real 80's look. Neon colors. Hair bands made out of lace or mesh, with a poofy bow on top. Think Cindy Lauper, or "Like a Virgin" Madonna. In the early 80's there was also a fad to have a large rainbow across the front of shirts, or anywhere else. For shoes, they can be pointy toed, and ballet flats/flat pumps were popular. Wear these or any other shoes with white bobby socks. For make-up use eyeliner to line the inside of your LOWER eye lid. I mean the space between your lower eyelashes and your eyeball. Then line all the way around your eyes, even to the downward points of your eyelids on either side of your nose. Do this lightly and careful or you will look like a clown. Bright blue was a popular color for this kind of eyeliner. If you need to see what this looks like, so a search for 80s fashion on google images. Good luck!

Download some old Madonna videos from the eighties. Or rent her movie "Desperately Seeking Susan". Yeah, I know. Not one of the proudest moments in fashion..

Better yet, check out some old MTV heavy metal videos. Big hair, spandex, and you get to throw the 'sign of the devil' to everyone you see. But remember kids, keep your thumb in when you do it. Otherwise, you're doing "I love you" in sign language. And there's nothing sadder than a made-up metal head who can't properly 'throw the horns'.

OMG - you have SO many options depending on when in the eighties. You could definitely do the early Madonna thing or the huge shirt and leggins. But, the details really count. Jeans were tight, waist high, acid washed (or bleach spotted for us ghetto kids who had to make our own), and fitted at the ankle. Boots were worn over the pants. If you wear shoes or sneakers were two pairs of socks in colors that match your outfit and alternate on either side (like blue on top of white on one side and white on top of the blue on the other). Sneakers were Keds, Aididas, Nike but they didn't really look like the ones todays and a lot had velcro. . .KSwiss sneakers still do. Big bows and headbands for hair and we wore it as big and as high as we could get it in curly perms or crimped. Jewelry was brightly colored, silver, or black. . .Peace signs, batman symbols, plastic bracelets. OOOOH - Jelly bracelets were totally the thing as were the shoes. . .Fill your arm up with them. Gold lame was in. Dark make-up (like the new high intensity color ones but more matte and less artfully applied) with lots of black or blue eyeliner (on inner eyelid).
You really do have a lot of resources available. . .Watch some 80s flicks or videos. Breakfast Club is a great movie but I don't think you get to see too much fashion in it though Claire's is a decent but subtle (and richy) example. Good luck and have fun!
