I think it's because young people are used to having someone else do for them and they haven't had enough life experiences to weigh against what they've been taught in school by their left-leaning teachers and professors. I have found that the "FACTS" do not support many things that I was taught in school. Liberals have misused this mechanism of learning by chanting over and over as fact things that are simply untrue.

Liberalism is a political choice. It is no worse than conservatism, any way you look at it. There are people on both sides of the party that give a disgrace to the party its representing (democrats- michael moore, republicans- george bush), but there are great people on both sides also, so why would you accuse every liberal of acquiring such a horrible illness, when it's really not?
To me, in our current state of existence, the republicans are bringing us down. Most republicans are selfish and not respectful of those that have worked their entire lives to attain nothing but peace of mind. Of course, there are some democrats that rant and rave about asinine ideas, and those are the ones that make liberalism seem so....out there.

-from an 18 year old that has been interested in politics since she was 6, and is neither liberal nor conservative.

P.S. not all young people have other people do everything for them. I've been paying bills since I was 11 and I've lived on my own since I was 16. From all the foster homes and such that I've lived in, I've seen that the people that work to help everyone else around them are liberal. And those that have other people do everything for them, they're conservatives.

thank you :)

Why do young people become republicans and christians? I don't understand that. I think young people become republicans and christians because of bad upbringing. Both don't have to care about the poor or use their brains because everything is already figured out for them and they don't have to do anything good because all they have to do is "believe in Jesus" and "they'll go to heaven" and if they do anything bad they can "repent". They can even do a lot of bad things and "repent" then they'll still "go to heaven". That's just a bunch of BS.
Look, use your eyes, use your hearts and use your brain. Be kind to people, help people, don't destroy the planet, don't judge people because they're different than you, don't hate people because they're different than you. These are the things I've learned in a long life without religion. These are the things I practice. Don't believe anything without researching it. Oh, and by the way, I'm a liberal and very happy.

When you are young and idealistic, you think you can change the world,or that the world can change. As you get older you realize the world is now just a big business. fill with bureaucratic B.S. If you are lucky you will make some money, in that case you will become Conservative so you can justify you greed and lack of care for the world behind the guise of religion. People don't get rich by giving there money away do they? God bless the christian right, they are sure going to need it on judgment day.

Conservatism in general abhors change - except to some imagined bygone era when "things were as they should be."

This conservative reflex isn't always bad - it can limit irresponsible experimentation and attempts at "fixing" things that aren't really broken.

But most of modern history is about overcoming outmoded ideas. In general, that is how we progress. You need new ideas to solve new (and old) problems. Liberalism in general impels this forward momentum by critically re-examining ideas. It can do this because it has an inherent tendency to question established norms & ideologies.

where does the idea of being a victim come from?
Liberal is a very old political point of view, over 200 years old.

I would me more worried if they fell victim to the Green Party, or to CND.
