What Morrissey thought of Kurt Cobain's death.?

When The Smiths singer Morrissey was asked by a journalist for his reaction to Kurt's suicide he thought briefly and replied "I respect his decision". "It's the ultimate control of your own body". He's very much in the pro life camp. I can't recall anybody else giving such a blunt answer. Everybody else spoke volumes on how tragic and selfish it was. Did anybody else come across comments like that either in the media or for someone you know. I thought it was wrong and selfish, I mean he had a beautiful baby daughter to raise. That's a good enough reason to live for me. What do you think of Morrissey's comment?

By the way I'm not thinking of doing "it"! All is good in this ol' head of mine. Just curious.

I think its about you would expect from a loser commenting on the death of another loser.

Its kind of a joke because Kurt had no control over his life and was spiraling into depression. If the only control he had was to end his life its kind of lame. Yes he had a daughter and her best interests should have been first and for that I don't respect his decisions.

Yeah i read this too in the NME. Maybe Morrissey doesn't really know much about Kurt Cobain or his music, hence his reply?

I think that he probably put some thought into his comment. I mean anytime something happens to someone you have things in common with you sometimes think about it from their perspective. I don't think suicide is an answer to anything. I feel like people are ultimately going to make their own decision about whether they are going to go through with it or not. I think it is sad that anyone would ever feel alone and helpless enough to kill himself. Don't listen to anyone who says that every single life is not valuable.
