What is the best age for female circumsition?

At what age should we circumcise our daughters? My eldest wife's brothers say two is too young, but my youngest wife's father says it's the perfect age, and that's how it was always done in their village. Also, would it be too ostentatious to slaughter a goat for the celebration party?

Funny how many people are outraged at the suggestion, yet think nothing of MALE circumcision. Ritual genital mutilation should be outlawed for BOTH sexes. No legitimate reason for either one.

Assuming that this is a real question. Female circumcision has been outlawed in the United States for good reasons. Pretty much every method involves significant risk of infection and disease (as most methods include the sewing of the inner or outer labia together to varying degrees). Not a good idea--not healthy at all.

That practice is sickening and should be stopped. Men are circumcised because foreskin tends to hold secretions that could cause infections and other health hazardous conditions. Female circumcision is just a bad custom, just like burying baby girls alive in the 600's. Now you would say that burying baby girls is wrong; that's how most people outside your culture feel about female circumcision as well.

I doubt the validity of this question, but for those who don't know, female circumcision *is* practiced in some parts of the world, and is generally considered a violation of human rights and a ritualized form of child abuse.

Never is a good age. Female circumsistion is dangerous to the girl. It causes a lot of problems when she gives birth and it could become fatal. I am not trying to be enthnocentristic (thinking my culture is better than yours) but its just not safe.
It also does not good to stop the girl from having sexual desires. Its harmful and should not be done, no matter what culture.

No need. The only reason men are circumsized is because it is cleaner. What a barbaric thing to do!

Why would you want to do that? It sounds horrible. And she is old enough to remember what it feels like. That is torturous, and wrong.
