Can I delete? I guess so as they only installed 3 days ago. How can I stop more appearing if they are spam etc.
Thanks!

It depends where they are located. I can't identify any files by that name on my PC. There are a number of things that files as large as that could be but it depends very much on their location. If they are in the Windows folder (or sub folders) then it's best to leave them well alone. If they are in a Temp folder, you can almost certainly delete them. If they are in the root of C:\ they may be cache files of some kind.

They are not 'spam' because that term means Unsolicited Mail. They are unlikely to be any kind of spyware nor are they likely to be a virus of any kind.

You have an anti-virus program, I suppose? Run a virus check on them to be sure.

Edit: pcon2009 has identified them, I think, in which case they are likely to belong to a programming package or, perhaps, a game. The folder they are in should give you more clues.

This may be a longshot, but some audio typists use their initials as a file extension. I know SSDFS is a long name (if it is initials), so maybe it's a company name?

Either way, try opening Windows Media Player (or whatever media player you use) and drag one of them in. If something plays, then that's what it is.

SSDF stands for syntax and semantic description files. I really don't know much more about them, but I can say that you SHOULD NOT udner ANY CIRCUMSTANCES delete them until a reputable source says its okay!
