The rear brake pedal won't push down at all. It does not require brake fluid, mechanical Drum. I did get it muddy in the rain. Lubing didn't help.

I just lubed where the pedal joins by the peg and down about a foot to the back there is another moving connecting part. ( yes, I know - I should know my parts better! I'm getting there.)

That bike has a brake rod that runs from the pedal to the rear brake . Be sure you have cleaned and lubed lubed all the parts.

If you remove the brake. clean it with brake cleaner and lube moving parts and pivots very carefully. Don't lube the shoes.

This happened to wife's VLX before. Lubing the pedal and rod relieved the problem

-Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions.
-First you have to determine what part of the rear brake system isn't working.
-If I guessed correctly what bike you have - remove the brake cable from the brake pedal linkage. Can you move the pedal?
-If no, remove it and clean any corrosion.
-If it moves, will the arm on the brake panel move? (rear wheel). Same thing, if no, clean it.
-Next thing would be the cable. If stuck, get a new one.

A 1992 VS800GL Intruder has a rear brake cable. There are a lot of different Intruder models. That's why everybody should give complete model info. If your bike has a brake rod, just omit the last sentence in my original answer.

Feeling, likelihood is very no longer likely that a Ranger with basically 32,000 miles might wish a pad and drum alternative. Did you circulate to the Firestone broker on my own? they have tried an identical situation on my daughter. Do you have a boyfriend/father/husband which could verify your rear brakes for you. Are you having hassle struggling with, does the vehicle pull to a minimum of one area once you stop, or do you pay attention any noise whilst attempting to stop? in case you replied no to any of those questions, i think of they have been purely attempting to get extra money out of you. wish this facilitates. solid success!

Did you try to adjust the position of the pedal with the thumbscrew? Take it apart, you may have no pad left.
What did you lube?
