I would start them off with a pre-paid plan (T-Mobile) and see how he or she can handle the responsibility of having a phone and not using to many minutes.

I don't even know the phone number to my cell phone; I only have it in case my vehicle breaks down and I can call for help. Sometimes I call home if I am going to be late. Let's face it, a cell phone is a tool and not a toy and usually costs by the minute! The temptation to just chat as if it is the same as a land-line is too high - it is not meant for the long chats between boyfriends and girlfriends, if you know what I mean.

***** your cuz get me that phone JK LoL. Well im 14 and i have a phone i would say let him have the phone if you feel he is responsible enough i would buy him a different phine maybe more cheaper flip phone like a camera phone or something because coming from my perspective as a teen ager kids are not responsible enough for that kinda phone.
