I've seen sketches of him with guns but don't really recall comics with him using them... if a movie was made do you think he would use weapons in it?

In WWII Captain America regularly used guns. As an Avenger he does not. Captain America from the Ultimate Universe (see the comic The Ultimates{corny name, cool book}) Cap uses rifles all the time and carried a side holstered pistol.

There was a really bad 80's movie about Captain America. He used some guns. And I am not sure, but the Ultimates has Cap being badass and use a gun.

Captain America used Tommy guns and submachine guns all the time.1940's to present.

He had a gun in a comic about 20 years ago in a battle with the Flag Smasher. I have it somewhere in storage, I believe its Captain America #323 though.

The next captain america should be him using military type weapons of all types and the new updated classic suit. His fight against Red Skull which is creating a genetic doomsday weapon. Captain is pushed over the line and begins using deadly force and later gets a new suit.

Super heroes don't use gun, that is the concept, But the poor Captain America is not bullet proof, that s the problem for movie director, maybe we give him a bullet proof uniform
