I posted a question about the FEMA crap and I really don't think ppl are listening to themselves talk.

Everyone is so quick to raise cane and give reasons as to why ppl should not be given any aid BUT nobody made one comment about the fact that BIG BUSINESS is getting the vast majority of Katrina donated money.

Do u ppl hear yourselfs? Has the propaganda of a few cases where ppl abused the system all over the news brainwashed u so bad that you can't see the REAL ISSUE?

Where are the BILLIONS of dollars that have been donated = in the hands of BIG BUSINESS. IE, a big company gets a high paying job, he then hires a subcontractor... this is repeated with about 7 layers of subcontractors. The big company gets a huge profit and never raises 1 finger.

But you ppl r so easily mentally manipulated all u can think of is the propaganda that all ppl want something for nothing. I just want donated money to end up for the cause it was 'advertised' to be donated to.

Your question is excellent & more people should be asking
questions like yours.
Right now, big business looks like a disgrace to America.
Taking anything they can get, from whoever they can,
& spending it on anything they wish.

GOOD GRIEF! Do you hear yourself! Blah Blah Blah big business gets all the money blah show me the money. The donated money mostly goes to big business because they are the only ones capable of taking on such huge projects. Subcontractors have to be hired to get ALL the work done. I personally know a contractor who was offered a HUGE sum of money to work in Katrina hit communitues, but he had to hire at least 50 more employees plus buy more tools to take on the contract that was offered. That sounds great but what do you do when the work is done and you have 50 guys and a bunch of tools you don't need???

Me too. I suppose that's always been the benefit of being on the top of any 'food chain'.
You know what really catches me though? It is the fact that a mere .13% of Americas GDP (gross domestic product) is given to foreign charities. That's not even 1%.
If Africa were a beggar, or simply a poverty-stricken person who was asking for some assistance...We would be the suburban-driving snoots who look on in dismay.

Compassionate government, what?

ok, dont donate then. be a real hero, take time off work, and go down there and rebuild like people used to do when they gave a crap. i spent four months helping katrina victims, and im tellin you, if you were the one with nothing, would you want someone ranting for you, or would you rather have them there actually doing something. Do you wanna be the mouth or the hands?

Like any other business transaction, you MUST research your charities before you donate to them (and the charities, by the way, have little or nothing to do with the mismanagement at FEMA). I recommend visiting www.charitynavigator.com before making your donations, to research your chosen charity. You will easily find statistics on their site that show what percentage of your donation actually goes to the needy and what goes to overheard.

Do keep in mind, FEMA and the contract/sub-contract disasters you are talking about are funded with Federal tax dollars and have nothing to do with donations.

To answer the only question in there, no we don't hear ourselves, we're typing. Pretty much the only way to see a donation go soley to the cause you'd like is to hand it directly to someone who needs it. Sorry, it's human nature to pinch a little off the top, and that's how those companies pay their employees.

I agree. This country and all it used to stand for is going to the dogs. I'm going to college in Europe and I plan on living there afterwards. Anyone can buy the government here it seems, the public is just being lied to, and I'm sick of it. Katrina jsut opened up a whole new can of worms...

So what you're really saying is that rebuilding an entire city shouldn't take this long? Get real, it takes 3-7 years just build a few miles of freeway, you want an entire city rebuilt in less than a year?

Ah, yes, the FEMA crap.

This is why Reagan said that government was the problem, not the solution. It is wasteful, incompetent and inefficient, especially when it comes to this type of unconstitutional largesse with the peoples' monies.
