I'm going with the main answers with male. To explain the bow, you could either go with the fact that he is very metrosexual and thought it looked pretty with his tail, or quite possibly might have gender identity issues due to the constant teasing by Tigger. Either way... still think he's a guy. He's even cooler when I make him more complicated like that.

Oh, and Wikipedia refers to him as a male, just for a bit further backup.

Cheers!

I used to live on a farm. I learned at a young age that if you wanted to know the gender of an animal, you had to lift up its tail and look at its parts. Sadly, trying this with Eeyore might make his tail pop off. I am guessing that Eeyore is a male because he has such a deep voice. Then again, so does Bea Arthur ("Dorothy" on The Golden Girls).

The point of the Pooh characters is that they're all part of a child's make believe world, each one representing a stuffed animal come to life by the power of imagination. Eeyore is a male, the pink bow representing nothing more than childlike innocence and blindness toward the social norms of gender bias.

Eeyore has to be a male. No doubt. I know he has a pink bow, but he's just being fashionable.

most cartoon characters were made to be male. tweety is male, piglet is male, eeyore is male. the only person on winnie the pooh that isn't male is kanga (correct me if I am wrong.)

Male based on the voice. Could be female on steroids, but I doubt that.
