I am a Vietnam veteran and this month I voted for the first time as a registered Democrat. I used to be a Libertarian but no longer can I sit on the sidelines saying both parties are evil.
The resolution passed says that we have to "stay the course in Iraq" or all the US lives we have lost there will have died in vain. That is like a gambler saying "I have to keep putting down bets or all the money I have lost so far will be lost in vain."
In truth, it is the Republican congress saying that THEY don't want to be like Johnson and Nixon and get blamed for losing Iraq like the aforementioned Presidents got tagged for losing Vietnam. In both cases, the war is not winnable. We went into Iraq on cooked up intelligence. There were no weapons of mass destruction. None. Sadam had already used them on his own people. We sold him the gas. We saw when he used it. There was no uranium and the Republicans knew that. That is why they outed Valerie Plame.
And get this, somebody, please: Iraq had nothing at all to do with 9-11. Nothing. The guys flying the planes were mostly Saudiis. OK? Despite the waving the bloody shirt about 9-11, Iraq had nothing to do with it. Oh, that is so criminal to do. It is truly like yelling fire in a crowded theater.
We or our kids or grandkids will look back on this era and shudder. I hope we can look back on this era. I hope the history of this era will be open and not sealed away.

Lets see, 50 Iraqi a day are being killed mostly sectarian lines. In short words for the repuglicans they are involved in a civil war and it is like we are in the middle. If we stay there 100 years or if we withdrew yesterday they still should have the right to decide their own country's fate. We should not even have been there in the first place and the family's of 2500 good Americans can testify to that. 10's of thousands of Iraqi lives have been lost because we are there. On a lie I might add, I agree with the minority on this one. We should bring our people home now. Before anymore damage is done. To Iraq and to our country.

You have to be kidding me
Do you have any idea what would happen if wepulled out now?
It would leave Iraq with a weak governmet ripe for take over. Can you imagine Iran with twice the resources to make nuclear bombs? Not to mention , ever American to leave last will get killed.
This is not a debate as to whether it was right to go in or not
but now that we are there, it is more than wrong to just pull out.

thanks for the information tale. I actually were gazing that and did not see the perfect selection. Having study many of the replies on your questions up to now, all i visit claim is that we are heading in the route of a few style of conflict right here in the US. What i hit upon so exciting is that the loud mouthed, belligerent, call calling conservatives seem outnumbered by ability of about 4 to at least one. God will be on their aspect, yet he replaced into on the Kaiser's aspect in WWI, and Hitler's aspect in WWII. He replaced into also on the CSA aspect in the Civil conflict, i'd upload. humorous how that works. i wager there could be diverse Gods, some are authentic some are fable.

How does that undermine the country? It seems to support our current policies.

I don't see the significance of undermining the US in that.
