i'm a rammstein fan. my friend told me that they have neo nazi beliefs, but my other friend says thats not true and they are actually anti nazi. whats the truth?

They're not nazis. A lot of people are still hung up about germans, they see a german industrial metal band and I think they are intimidated. What evidence have they given anyone to accuse them of being nazis? I can't think of anything. They don't wear swastikas, they don't say 'hail hitler' and they have never made a racist or anti-semetic comment in the press or otherwise.They have done nothing but make good music and I think people need to think about their steroetypes towards the german people.

One of the biggest problems is their adoption by neo-nazi supporters. They as a band only use the nazi symbolism as a comparision between the dictatorship and control of Hitler of that of other countries. However they are often seen by Neo-Nazi groups as a 'perfect' example of what a true German should be, industrious, proud of their heritage.
If you really want to know, the best thing would be to read their lyrics in translation.

billy joe armstong says zeig heil on the greenday song holiday yet he is about as left wing as you get these days.
its all about context, rammstein took their name from an airbase in germany often frequented by the US for refuelling etc. if they have said heil hitler in a song (i cant think which song ppl are referring to) it is most likely a comparison to the dictatorship of america.
Further proof is the countries they are allowed to perform in, France and Germany have strong anti nazi legislation yet they perform big concerts in both countries

they are not neo nazis. who ever thinks they are have it all wrong. none of their songs say anything about hitler and they NEVER have said hail hitler in any of their songs. and they don't wear swastikas. i have every cd except for their new one and a dvd on rammstein and they have never made any reference to hitler in any way.

they do sing about hitler and say hail hitler so i think they might be a bit right wing
