A theory is a hypothesis with evidence to back it up that is testable. The are of few things in science (laws, like gravity) that are proven true, but theories can be proven false if there is enough evidence to do so. Anyone can make a hypothesis, i.e. the sky is blue because it's made of blueberries, but that isn't a theory because it hasn't been tested and the evidence does not support it.

An hypothesis is merely a question you have on any given subject. You put it to the test, and attempt to prove it wrong. If it holds up, others will duplicate your attempts, and create some of their own. Only after it stands up to rigorous testing and APPEARS to be true, does it become theory. An hypothesis is not a substantial explanation of anything.

Hypothesis is a guess usually derived to explain some observation we make about our environment. When experiments and studies are performed, and they support the validity of the hypothesis, it is then a theory. When something is accepted as universally true, it is then considered law.

A hypothesis is what you think is going to happen before conducting an experiment or observation. A theory is an incomplete conclusion to a question that can't be answered completely by the scientific method. I.e. evolution theory, string theory, number theory, etc.
They are not equal to each other.

true, a hypothesis has not been experimented on as of yet. It's just an idea of what might happen. Theory has been "proven" by experiments

True.
A hypothesis is a "guess" about something -- it's an educated guess, but a guess nonetheless. Once experimental and observational evidence (a great deal of it, usually) is accumulated, an hypothesis can be "promoted" to a theory.

True. A hypothesis only becomes a theory when there is substantive support, facts, observation.
