This sounds really meaningful. But is it realistic?

Dolores O'Riordan: Lead Vocalist, The Cranberries: "I am in no position to judge other women, you know. But I mean, why did she get pregnant? It's not good for women to go through the procedure [abortion] and have something living sucked out of their bodies. It belittles women. Even though some women say, 'Oh, I don't mind to have one,' every time a woman has an abortion, it just crushes her self-esteem smaller and smaller and smaller." (Source: You! June/July 1996)

I think that it is the woman's choice but should not be used as a form of birth control. I personally, wouldn't have one.

As a person of pro-choice, I believe that all women have the right to do with their bodies as they wish, including abort something inside of them they do not wish to have. Let's get some things clear here.

Birth control of all varieties is NOT 100% effective. Even if a woman were on birth control, her partner used a condom or another method, nothing is stating that there is an absolute guarantee that a fetus will not develop. It is possible, especially for the women who are very fertile.

I have heard so many times "Oh, there are couples out there who cannot have children and they would want to adopt a baby, so don't abort it, just put it up for adoption." Let me remind those of you who stand behind this belief that there are many, many children who live in foster care; who are pushed around from home to home and who don't have a stable up-bringing. They soon develop issues with trust/mistrust, self-esteem, and abandonment, just to name a few. With technology today, infertile couples can easily be artifically inseminated or use a surrogate mother among other things. If I were pregnant and I absolutely did not want to borne a child, I would NOT subject it to the cruel world of "the system", only to fear that I had given it a bad life rather than not giving it life at all.

We should also make clear that when a woman has an abortion, she is not killing a baby; she is aborting a fetus. It has not matured into a baby. When the abortion takes place, the fetus does not know what is going on. It is oblivious and there is no pain.

Why should we make a world with an already outrageous population any worse than it is? We should be trying to control it by making wiser decisons and being more careful. I am slightly sickened by the women who have children back, to back, to back and who are on state assistance. Keep the pants on and be responsible adults!

No, I don't. Women get a right to have sex. We get a right to use birth control and choose which type of birth control we use. Why don't the babies that these women are pregnant with get a right to live? They're just as much a life as the woman that got pregnant. I'm pro-life, always have been. Abortion didn't bother me as much until I had children of my own. I miscarried my first child but both my daughters know that they have a little brother in heaven. How can someone who gets an abortion tell their future children "You could have had an older brother or sister but I killed them." I think that any woman that has an abortion is selfish. I mean, there are so many women out there that are unable to bear children but these screwups just throw their babies away when it's inconvenient for them. I'll admit, my children weren't planned. I was on birth control with both. I had my oldest at 18 and my youngest at 19; but I gave them LIFE!!!! There was a girl I USED to be friends with until she got an abortion. She used the excuse "I'm 17 and too young to be a mom." Well, I wasnt ready but there is no way I could've murdered my own flesh and blood. I think that everyone that has ever had an abortion needs to thank their mother for not murdering them. I wonder how they can sleep at night knowing that they murdered their child. I personally feel that woman should have their self esteem crushed if they chose abortion. Their baby never got a chance to have self-esteem so why should they have it?

No, I do not support abortion. The idea that an innocent, unborn child is dispensable not only saddens me, but it frightens me personally. I have had others argue that rape and incest should be a good reason for this procedure. I disagree, even though these are evil acts. Noone has been killed and this unborn child did not commit any crime. So, are we condemning an innocent to death for the crimes of another? We are not entitled to do so. I would also like to say that we do not know how many cures for aids or cancer, future leaders, peacekeepers, or wonderful teachers or pastors or even parents are being killed every day. Although I am no prude, my view is that as a responsible adult, you do not know how to use birth control; then abstinance is probably your best bet. Since it is true that over 65% of all abortions are gotten by women that just don't want children. This issue has become ridiculous to me. When did the people of America decide that if a woman's body is hers, whe should be able to kill for it.

I support a woman's right to make such an important decision about her own body on her own. Sure we could all say, "Oh she shouldn't have gotten pregnant," but everyone has an occassional slip-up, and besides, who are we to judge each other? Sure, there are other options, but with the amount of girls there are just having babies and leaving thenm for dead, and the amount of orphans throughout the world, how can we tell women they have to go through nine months of pregnancy and give birth to a child they cannot care for, do not want and who may end up in "the system"? And yes, even in the womb they are still God's creatures, but I personally I believe that God is the creater of ALL. Not just nature, but of the ideas that man has as well. Someone invented the procedure that we know as abortion, and he did so b/c God allowed him to. Would I ever have one? I have, when I was much younger, and though I can't say that I regret it, It saddens me that it had to be done.BUT IT WAS A DECISION THAT I MADE. The same way that no stranger would have stepped up to help me clothe, feed and shelter that child is the same way that no stranger should have the authority to tell me I had to have it. I truly beleive that unless you are a registered foster parent and willing to take in as many children as necessary, you have no right to even comment on the issue. Would I ever do it again? No. Why? B/c I have a 3yr old son that was born prematurely at 26 weeks. In some states the latest you can have the procedure done is 24 weeks. An older wiser me understands that if my three yr. old who now walks, talks, and sings, could survive after being born weighing only 2.1lbs., then perhaps a child at 24 weeks could too. But that's me and my experience. That still gives me no right or authority to make my personal opinion into law. Should I be able to voice my opinion, of course, but one's personal opinion has no place in actual policy-making.

I support a woman's choice to control her own uterus and her own destiny.
In no way shape or form do I think abortion should be casually used as birth control, but there is nothing more heart wrenching than an unwanted child.
It takes someone very special to put their baby up for adoption. Not everyone can do it, not everyone has such an unselfish heart.
The terrible thing about abortion is that even if it might be the right choice in the situation, the woman generally had guilt about it forever.

NO I DO NOT SUPPORT ABORTION, WHY?

Its a mother-to-be hiring a hitman who claims to be a doctor to kill her unborn child. Because she does not want to be bother with raising a child. Every woman on the planet needs to hang her head in shame. You would think women would appose abortion, would be up in arms about it but no they support and indorse it as a friend what a shame. There was a time when the woman was the protector of the family now she is a killer all in the name of choice. Her selfish choice is more important than her child. She once was a selfless mother who gave to her children now she is a selfish murderer killing her own child so she can live a life of pleasure. Again I say hang your head in shame all you women. God have mercy on your souls.

The quote said "why did she get pregnant?" like it's her fault. How do you tell that to a girl who is raped? Incest? Some people are against abortion because they can't bear to think of ending the life their unborn baby, because of religious reasons, because they just can't personally cope with it. Other people are strong enough to deal with the reprecussions (whatever that may be, in this life or the next, who knows). Whatever the matter I personally think it's up to each person to know their story and to do what they have to, whether that's abortion, keeping it or adoption. But for every person who says no abortion ever ever, no matter what, picture this first, because it happened to my cousin - your 13 year old is raped, traumatized and pregnant, and because of a law she is going to be forced to have that baby. Some people can't live with abortion - but could you live with making her go through that?

Who is anyone to tell another what they HAVE to do with their life??

I think the option should be out there, and that every woman must make the choice that is right for them. But they then must live with that decision. It's something that should be seriously considered, and should not simply be used as birth control.

I don't condone it, but I am glad it is out there. Otherwise you will have the back alley abortions, and instead of one "murder", there would be two. Doesn't make it any more or less right, does it? With it legal, then there can be regulations on it, and standards that have to be met.

I "DO" support abortion........
Women have the right to do what they want to there bodies.
I personally don't think I would do it. In any situation, regardless of it being a mistake or rape, a person should have the choice of having it the child or having an abortions. There are plenty of unwanted children in the world. Why do we want more?

Not at all. I'm a prolifer. I believe life begins at conception and abortion is murder. For those of you who say a woman has the choice of what to do with her body, what about the baby? The baby does not make the choice to die. In addition, what about the man? Isn't he entitled to take responsibility too? It's his baby too.
