OK....
You know how on this part of the site, we tend to get Christians, saying that we're going to hell, we pray for you, blah, blah, blah, God is going to punish you???
Ok...
This is my thing, ok?
Suppose you're Christian or Catholic,right... and you believe that god is the creator of everything and our lives aren't really our lives, we're just following "God's path"...ok... if homosexuality is a sin, why would He create homosexuals??? And another thing, about god making all the diseases and imbalances in the brain, or whatever, and people saying that homoseuality is a imbalance...well, He makes that too!!! And God supposevely loves all his children, why would He send the people He created to an etenrnity of Hell???
Agree or disagree???
**I'm agnostic, and this is to preety much shut up some PEOPLE***

You are correct in your line of thinking. It would appear that many Chistians are biggoted in their view, particulrily fundamentalists, who have difficulty see the wood for the trees. I agree with your logic and many orthox Chistians do too.
Best of luck in your search for the 'truth'

Since the day I committed myself to my partner I have had an internal religious battle over the whole gay vs. sin issue. Recently I saw the movie The Da Vinci Code and read the book. While the book and the movie have nothing to do with homosexuality it DOES question the divinity of Jesus and tackles a good bit of religious issues. It's made me question the basis of Christianity even more. I grew up as a Southern Baptist and as we all know the gay life style goes against any and all Christian beliefs. But I can not fathom God sending his creations to hell. And I think that I've come to the conclusion that all sin is forgivable. And if on Judgement Day the Lord tells me that me being so in love with my partner is indeed a sin....then I will ask for forgiveness. But while I'm here on this earth and my partner is in my life....I'm going to love her. And that's all I have to say on that.....

I am 38, Democratic and Episcopalian (which is a Christian denomination) -- I believe we are gay because we are supposed to be gay and that the Bible is a book of myths with very little to do with Christianity. I am Christian because I believe in Christ, not because I believe in a book.
Those interested can take a look at the website I maintain to see why I don't believe the Bible is anything more than some pretty and some not-so-pretty fables.

To the young lady who said homosexuality is against all Christian churches -- FALSE. You can start with the United Church of Christ and work out from there.

Agree....if there is a God, he/she is not judgmental over the things he created. He created everything for a reason. It's part of the plan. There is not a commandment that says "Don't be Gay". Gay has been around since the dawn of time, it is what it is, and has no bearing on procreation or religion. It's a human nature thing...cells split and variations happen...gays are just a variation, just like breeds of cats. It's just another thing, like blacks & whites & yellows & browns...stright people need to "get a life" and let everyone else live theirs...for God's sake! no pun intended.

You won't shut anyone up - but thanks for trying.
However, your premise is mistaken. Our lives ARE really our lives, it's a get out clause called "free will". The point of it is to choose how to live one's life, whether to adhere to the strictures and mores of a Church's interpretation of the teachings of a prophet, a Son of God, The Prophet et. al. or to follow your own set of rules.
God's part in that is supposed to be that He allowed us to be free-willed. Should you ever become a parent, you won't stop loving your child but you'll still want to discipline them.
I'm a (well and truly) lapsed Catholic and if I can muster a rebutt to your comment - how much more fervent would those responses be from the Serious God Squad?
Besides, sometimes it's fun to let off some steam replying to those who don't practise what they preach Check out some of the answers on the question, below

Same reason He creates alcoholics: He doesn't. It's called free choice. He wants people to love him freely, not robotically. As for Christians bashing homosexuals...The bible actually says in Ezekiel 16:49 that Sodom's ACTUAL sins were more along the lines of pride, laziness, gluttony, and disregard for the poor. Of course, those are sins anybody can have. I guess it's easier to use God as a weapon against a lifestyle we personally fear or find ourselves uncomfortable with. Don't get me wrong, as a Christian, I don't CONDONE homosexuality, but that gives me no right to exalt it as a higher sin than alcoholism, pornography, etc, etc.
There's much more to it, but I think I've said enough.

Joan, you just not going to get people to shut up about this subject. I am gay and a Christian, and I believe God loves and accepts me as He does all His children. BUT, many closed minded Christians will say that we Christian gays are a bunch of hypocritical sinners who need to search more for the truth. What can I say, ignorance is found everywhere.

Just to clarify, Catholics are Christians.
There are Christians out there who don't believe any of that. Unfortunately not too many on this site.
I believe God is a God of love, who call us to love and justice, and as a Christian I am active in advocating for same sex marriage, and protection of civil rights for ALL people.
Peace!

Agree, but don't worry about so much, read below hope it makes some of you smile ;-)
Pastor 's *** out front
The pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won. The pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in another race, and it won again. The local paper read: PASTOR'S *** OUT FRONT.
The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the pastor not to enter the donkey in any more races. The next day, the local paper headline read: BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ***.
This was too much for the Bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent. The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day: NUN HAS THE BEST *** IN TOWN. The Bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for $10.
The next day the paper read: NUN SELLS *** FOR $10. This was too much for the Bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the high plains where it could run wild.
The next day the headlines read: NUN ANNOUNCES HER *** IS WILD AND FREE. Alas ... the Bishop was buried the next day.
MORAL OF THE STORY?? Being concerned about public opinion can bring you much grief and misery, and even shorten your life. So, be yourself and enjoy life ... STOP WORRYING ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE'S ***, and you'll live longer and be a lot happier!

Exactly what I have been say since I came out to myself and others.
God Loves all of his children not just a few here and there because you say it is so.
"God Loves, People Hate"
"Spirituality is not religion.
Religion divides people.
Belief in something unites them."
"In man's unending pursuit of salvation the distractions of his science or his religion may be the very thing keeping him from his Creator."
"Never Regret,
Never Forget,
The Gift From Above
Unconditional Love"
"If of the many truths you find one and follow it blindly.
It becomes a falsehood and you a fanatic"
"What people do not understand, they fear.
What people fear, they hate.
What people hate, they kill.
God Loves, Men Kill."
Remember that God will judge based on your actions, not due to you not fit in a group that says you should belong to them because they said God said it.

agree
i don't think that being gay is a sin. i have never been attracted to a woman but all i know is that my hero is infact bisexual. it's billie joe armstrong from Green Day. he had made a statement that being gay, lesbian, bisexual etc. should be allowed because if they love that person, they shouldn't have to hide it. he says that it has been drilled into our minds that not being straight (or atleast completely straight) is bad and that they should be frowned upon. i strongly agree with him especially when he said that just because they can't reproduce, doesn't mean that they can't love. it's a statement to live by. i think everybody should be bisexual, but oddly i am not myself.
it is a state of opinion. it shouldn't matter. if a man says "ohh that guy over there is hot!" to his male friend then the male friend should simply say if he agrees or not, not say "man, are you crazy?"
i agree, no matter what.
