It all depends on the size of the tree. If you are unsure if the tree is a protected tree contact a "arborist" spelling might not be exact, there in your local phone book under landscapers usaly. Ive used a few companies ASPLUNDISH is one but shop around for the best price and ensure they are insured in case they drop the tree in the wrong spot

It all depends on the size of the tree, where it is located (whether it is close to a building, near a road, power lines etc.), and the condition of the tree. If its partially dead it will be harder to remove. If you need more than one tree removed/trimmed its usually cheaper to do them all at once. Keeping some of the wood (so it doesn't have to be hauled off) will also help keep the price down and getting it done in the off season is usually cheaper too.
Most companies give free est. so check around!

Lots of Money and laws that make it hell. Either way your screwed. I got an estimate to trim for $700. To completely remove and take trash $1700.00 no joke research the tree because there might be some law protecting it. If you cut a tree and it's against the law you facing a $3000.00 possible fine.

Depends on the tree size and the area where you live. If it can wait, do it in the "off season" - winter and you can probably negotiate a better rate.

Make sure whoever you hire is insured.

It depends if anyone close to you is looking for free wood. Some people (like me) are willing to cut down a tree if we can get the wood because I burn wood for heat.
If you don't want to do any of the work, you'll have to pay unless you can find someone who would do it just for the wood.

Call a landscaper. It all depends on the size of the tree, and if you want removal or pruning.

Do you mean pruning, or chopping down?

It depends on the size of the tree. Anywhere from $300-1,000.
