11 1/2 week appointment?

Question

What will they do at this appointment? I have been 3 times since this one because my 1st pregnancy was ectopic so they were just monitoring it.......so I've had 3 intra-vaginal ultrasounds already and have seen the heart beat!!! Will I be able to hear it this time? And if not will he do another ultrasound? How do I know everythings ok if he does neither?? 1st pregnancy by the way!

most of the time you can start hearing the heartbeat by doppler at 11-12 weeks. if you have already had your pap test and pelvic exam, they will pretty much just check your blood pressure, might measure your belly and try to get a heart rate using the doppler. the doppler is similar to an ultrasound, but produces an audio sample of the heartbeat rather than a picture. this has always been when i was able to hear the heartbeat, at about 11 weeks. it sounds more like a swishing sound than a lub-dub like an adult heartbeat. it one of the best things in pregnancy when you first hear that little heart going...good luck!!

by the way...i'm almost 34 weeks pregnant with my fifth, so i'm pretty sure that this is the appointment when they will first try to hear the heartbeat.

Its still to early to hear the baby's heatbeat. I've have 3 children--doesn't make me an expert, but I've had a miscarriage also. Sounds like your Dr is careful----which is good, the non-caring , dismissive doctors are horrible!!! They probably will do another ultrasound.

yea ur probably gonna hear the heartbeat....they are just gonna keep doing ultrasounds to make sure the baby is healthy and stays that way
