We have freedom, religion, speech, and so many things, these people seek, I do not thing all the people want to change it when they come, I do think they want it to magically adapt to there perspective of what america means to them immediately. Somepeople see all rainbows, but they have to be created.

I agree but just to play devils advocate nothing is 100% perfect. America is a great country because we respect the opinion of others. Freedom of speech. Everyone should have a chance to voice their opinion and it is left up to the powers that be to choose which ones will work for the greater good. I don't agree with anyone coming here illegally, but, if I lived somewhere that I felt was unsafe and knew there was another place where there is better saftety and more oppurtunities then I know I would go for it. It's just human nature. Remember to put yourself in someone else's shoes. Americans tend to take for granted the many freedoms and priveledges that we have and to a certain extend we are not willing to share those same priveledges equally with others. Yes it is still America, but, No we are not perfect. Change is good.
From one American to another.

You don't have to go too far back in time to see how America was - with African-Americans being reduced to 3rd class citizens. Not much further before that and you had the waves of Irish and Italian immigrants that now define one of your great cities (New York) to the rest of the world. Much further before that the Native Americans were re-settled.
What I'm trying to say is that change happens - if it all stayed exactly the same then the USA would not have become the powerful nation that "people from all different countries want to come to"

People who come here don't want us to change any more then we want ourselves to change. Everyone has ideas for how to make American better. It's not like immigrants want to make it a whole different country - if they thought we sucked that badly they wouldn't come in the first place. But you, me, Pedro the immigrant, and everyone else in this country has views about what changes could make American better. Immigrants don't "expect" us to change any more that good ol' whitey republican Americans like you do.

People come to america for the opportunity to better themselves financially, and not necessarily culturaly. You suggest that they should severe all ties with their native land, this insinuates that you are insecure of other customs and cultures, this would mean that you have never eaten in an ethnic restaurant or purchased an item, ie car or hi tech electronics item manufactured in another country. Chill out the world is shrinking, enjoy your new neighbors - live and learn

Please, Sugarplumfaery, it's America with a capital "A." And, YES, America is right. Give it time. Only the first generation immigrants cling to their customs. For the second generation those customs are an embarrassment. And for the third generation, those customs are quaint. At that point, presto, they're fully Americanized. Always been that way, always will be.

number one youre living a lie...those that come to America come here because of poverty in there home countries...they do not come here because of our culture or the way we run things...as a matter of fact the entire world is pretty disgusted with the way we run things...Immigrants for your information did change America as we are all decendants of immigrants thatare not Native Americans...and believe me we did change the way they do things...So missy get your head out of your butt and wake up and realize this is not the America of our founding fathers that the world once respected...we need a change and we need to realize we need a change and stop believing everything is as it was and all is well with America.

One of the things that makes America "right" is the freedom to express an opinion that calls for a need for change.

people want to do that wherever they go, it's not just America... i've lived in USA for 10 months from England, the only good thing going for america is it pays well.. that's not for regular employees, that pay sucks as much as anywhere first world, only you don't have so much social welfare for these individuals... but when you get into the higher paid work, wow.. everyone drives audi's at 21.

I don't think they want to change America; i think America doesn't want them here. They want us to be accepting and not push them away; what would be the point of them coming here if it's virtually the same as wherever they came from?
