I am not asking who has the better policies, but whether the average Democrat voter is smarter than the average Republican voter and vice versa.

I am a registered republican, though I will have to agree that 90% of democrats are smarter than republicans.

both are managed through the properly 3%. The unwashed 1000's lower than them do no longer count number. those 3% are sensible yet no longer inevitably the best. Take a Ted Kennedy no longer that sensible yet ok linked. Pelosi is a real anomaly, dumbest I have ever seen. There is often a category on how someone so stupid ought to get so intense. So tell me Pelosi the Democrat is a sensible lady. Bush were given each thing he wanted out of her - even at the same time as she had a clean majority! the purely component she ought to get by skill of congress replaced into naming some submit workplaces named after some previous Nineteen Thirties commies.

When it comes to public relations/marketting the repubs are definitely smarter. Screaming liberal media 20 times a day until the brain dead masses start to believe that the media is liberal. Pure genius. How about saying liberals=communists/unamerican. Pulling in the social conservatives so all the bible thumpers go along with the tax cuts for the rich. When it comes to politics the repubs are head and shoulders above the dems. The dems could be smarter, but they are such pansies that they will not fight these attacks.

You will never get a satisfactory answer on this.

The liberals/Democrats will always believe that they are smarter, because they have so much support from academia and the "intelligentsia" -- self-appointed arbiters of what is right and intellectually proper, effectively an aristocracy.

The conservatives/Republicans believe in the Jeffersonian ideal that the common man, taken as a mass group, know better what is right for them than some aristocracy.

Democrats. The liberalism is related to free thought. Conservatism is sticking to the old school of thought. Now lets see if Galileo stuck to the old school we would still think the earth was flat. If Newton stuck to the old school we wouldn't have modern math and physics. If countless engineers and mathematicians stuck to the old school then we wouldn't have cars, planes, computers, tv etc...
As you get more education, it broadens your mind, and you can't be an open minded conservative (what an oxymoron would that be though!).
So definitely liberals are more educated and hence smarter. However if you define smart as in wicked, then republicans are more wicked.

Democrats. Republicans have tunnel vision and the only thing they vote for are their wallets, anti-abortion and trying to dismantle the constitution as evidenced by to days Supreme court ruling that police don't have to knock, a 5-4 decision. This is the 2ND anti-constitution measure the court has ruled on in the last 2 weeks!

Hell, let the cops knock down your damn door!

Smarter or better educated? I'd say Republicans are smarter because they understand we're not a communitst country and it's not the government's job to take care of everybody and tell them what to do. Then again, how many people actually vote for the good of the country and not the good of their own wallet? Morals vs. Greed?

I think Republicans are smarter in fixing problems because they are much more logical in their approach to fixing a situation, but Democrats are smarter when it comes to selling their ideas, because if most people knew the "whole picture" of the Democratic policies, they would not support them, yet people follow them anyway.

I couldn't say. I have both Republican and Democratic friends and I'd have to say that they are equally intelligent.

Although I've seen somewhat on this site say that they've never seen a liberal with a college degree. Get out much?

More people with degrees support Democrats, but so do many of those with minimum educations.

So you could in theory say that both the smartest and the dumbest support the Democrats.
