Star Wars. Better plot, better characters. Better...everything. Star Wars does a much better job of drawing you into the story. I think Star Trek may try too hard to be complex and scientific whereas Star Wars deliberately leaves much open to the imagination.
It has a much broader appeal to its audience as well. It has action, adventure, romance...all that stuff. It's not very hard to find a character or two you can relate to or at least think is really cool. Don't make me nerd out and start talking about Bobba Fett!

Star Wars for the better special effects, adn cooler creatures and grandiose, but Star Trek was very cool too (not hte original series)
It had a nice optimistic view of the future adn grand exploration. Star Wars was already politically jaded and it seemed as if everyplace they went wasn't new to them.
