At one time the water we drink has done a lot of things. It's run over dead people, animals, and plants. It's been a part of those same things at one time or another. It's been liquid, solid, and gaseous in nature. It's contained organic and inorganic compounds. At one time if was even part of a star.

Like I said. It's done a lot of things.

The water we drink was once in the bellies of dinosaurs, so I'd have to say yeah, it's probably run over dead people somewhere in its life. Before it gets to our sinks and water fountains, however, it is cleaned by the water companies.

It runs through pipes, not through the ground...

Wow, good question. I suppose some rainwater does percolate down through the ground in cemeteries and make it's way to the water supply in some places. But that's what water treatment plants are for, to remove impurities and harmful substances.
Anyway this has probably been true since the beginning of human civilization, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Water is recycled. Some of the water you drink has been used in dead bodies, urine and all kinds of gross stuff.

Water can't drive, so I doubt it runs over anyone.

Okay sorry. I couldn't resist. Actually, it would be completely illegal if it did. Usually it runs over pipes, rusted or otherwise.

Absolutely. But no matter where it's been or how it was made it is still two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen and the molecules are unaffected.
