Okay, the law is that you have to wear your seatbelt for your own good because it is better for you. How come they don't outlaw cigarettes when it is proven that they kill people?

Neither should be against the law for adults. I'm not saying that not wearing your seatbelt or smoking is a good thing to do, but those are personal choices that the gov't has no right getting involved in.

Seat belt laws are not about saving lives. They are about $$$. Not from fines, but from the federal government. Plus insurance companies lobby for these laws to keep their costs down. Remember our government always listens to big business. Also wonder why all states have seat belt laws, but not all have helmet laws. If you crash your motorcycle w/o helmet, very high probability you will be dead. This costs insurance co some money, but if you crash with a helmet, chances are you will live, but have serious injuries that will cost the insurance co a LOT more than the death benefit.

Like was said earlier, cigarettes generate lots of $ and jobs, and will not go away anytime soon.

Because the government and the ppl at wall street are afraid to because if they were to cut out all tobacco sales, not only would there be mass riots and a swell in crime activity, the economy would go down the tubes because so much is riding on the sales of tobacco. I agree with you that they should ban cigarettes and all tobacco products, along w/fast food restaurants like McDonald's and burger king. lol

Because the government cares more about money than the health of people. They want to make money from cigarettes. Crazy, crazy world.

Cigarrettes make money. The Tabacco companies dont care about the people anymore so they just want to make money. No matter how many people die. America is a Capitalsit government. Everyone is free to start their own buisness.

Because people are addcited to them and outlawing them would never happen. The addicts would put up the biggest fight, so it would never work.
