Hey all you SA pople living and working abroad....I want to leave the country and also work and live abroad..I however don't have
the finances to first go to a place for a while and find work there,
come back pack up and go..so I need advice please. I have posted my CV on Monster..but still I need al the advice and help I can get. You want my reason...well I am tired to hear 11 years down the line that the goverment and whomever else still want me as a white to own up to the sins of apartheid. I can't even remeber exactly how things where in that era..and I am sick and tired for not getting the same oppertunities as people of another skin colour just because I am white. I studied hard, if I can get judged with them because of our experience and qualification then I don't have a problem, but it just doesn't happen like that. This country is really beautiful, I just can't live here anymore because I am tired of constantly hearing "it is apparthieds fault"or whatever..so help please!Thx

To Diesel..Yes I am a bit angry and also so dissapointed that it seems that we can not put the past behind us and move forward..we are constantly reminded about apartheid and that it was the whites fault. We have said we are sorry and whatever was needed. It is 11 years down the line for goodness sake - I just wish all will get over it and move on, and not constanly remind us about it and blame everything on it.

You need to have sufficient money in your account for the visa to be approved. However, if you are under 40, have a degree and want to teach English in Japan; then it is pretty easy. Go to this website http://www.japan.org.za/./programme_JET.html and read about the JET programme. I did it, and it was fantastic! They pay for your flight and also provide the visa. The teaching bit is not hard at all. You can renew your contract up tp 3 years, and then after that, if you still want to stay, you can get another job elsewhere. Or possibly move to another country after that. Which was easier for me, because after 2 years I had saved up enough money to live abroad again.

Goodluck!

I'm just going to comment on the reasons why you want to leave SA:

I know it is ugly that people still haven't gotten over the Apartheid times and that they are still holding it against the white people. It was a terrible time (i can only imagine it) and i personally think that is was absolutely unfair and wrong! I agree with you though, that people must stop living the past and move on. The people who were involved in the Apartheid must be dead by now but they are still taking it out on us in the new times even though we had no say back then whether is was right or wrong. If i was involved in the Apartheid i would of thought that it was cruel and terribly wrong. Racism is a big problem in SA and i think it should be sorted out fairly. Whether you are black, white, red, purple or blue we should all be treated the same whether they were treated badly in the Apartheid or not.

I don't think you should leave though, for this reason at all. Keep your head up high and carry on thinking positive.

Well, I'm not white, but I am a proud South African. And couldn't find work in SA as well. It's just a tough time for everyone in SA now.

I've been teaching English in Korea the past 5 years and love it. It's not hard work, but it may be tiring sometimes. If you wanna try this, you won't have any problem. Most schools here repay all your expenses. They pay for everything. Housing and such and some schools will even give you some money to start off with.

You can apply on line and they'll mail you the forms. All you need to do is pay for the airmail costs. You know...to get your papers over. Then the school will send the airfare. Some schools may ask you to pay for it and then they'll reimburse you later.

Hello Queen B.
You sound very angry and I'm sorry you feel this way. It doesn't sound like an apartheid era. It just sounds like a new government era. I don't know if I could be of any help, but my knowlegde of working abroad goes as far as England and Australia. I don't know which country in particular you prefer, and which qualifications you hold, but getting a job in South Africa is a problem for everyone, I don't believe it's for Whites only.
I wish you all the best.

I agree with you. Thought you might like to know this: The SA Government has realised its mistake of putting unskilled workers in the jobs available. However due to APARTHEID the rule was black people then coloureds and indians then disabled and then women. However they have now realised that they are discriminating against young white males so they plan to amend this.
All I can say to you is Good Luck and I hope everything works out for you in the end.
