I have both an ebay and paypal account, will paypal automatically take money from my checking account that its linked to, or do I have to transfer money manually?

no, you dont have to move the money. it will take it out on its own. Although if all you have is a checking account it will send an echeck payment, which can take days to clear. If you have a visa check (or atm) card attached to your account, enter that information into the credit card section of your account. This will insure that when you buy something the money is transfered instantly. That will help your seller to ship things to you faster.

You can transfer funds into your paypal account from your bank or pay by bank transfer and this will take the money out of your bank. The seller will not have any card details sent to them as this is the whole point of paypal your privacy.

You don't need to have money actually in your payal account, but you need to have your paypal account linked to a credit card or checking account. When you "check out" via eBay you can choose where you want the funds to come from.
