They will be hungry for victory. Look for them to absolutely POUND the ball into the attack zone. I am picking the U.S., 3-1

There is no chance. US will most definitely come out strong, however Canavaro, Nesta, Gatuso & Zambrota are World Class players that they have to get past. The United States talked a lot of trash and they did not realize the head teams (Brazil, Italy, Germany, Czech, England) all came to play this world cup. There's no screwing around, and the US needs to take there cocky team, with minimal skill, and go back home. The US has a lot of growing up to do, they need to take a modest step back and re analyze the way they think soccer is played. You can't step into this sport like everything else, train for a few years and think you can win a Worl Cup. The US will not have 1 goal on Italy. Italy 2 - US 0.

Statistically "azzurri" should win. After USA lost with the Czech Republic the team is a little confused.
They will find a competitive team that has demonstrated a good condition with two goals over Ghana and a general good match.
USA will try in every way to avoid the another lost or a draw, because the win is what they need. Maybe they will score first but I think the italian forwards will play every ball and will strike.

I see four possible outcomes:
The second least likely scenario: USA 1 - Italy 0. To do so, the US defense will have to hold Italy scoreless, and the US will have to magically find the net late in the game from a counterattack. If the US should miraculously happen to score early in the game, Italy will certainly retaliate. They desperately need the three points from this match to have a realistic hope of moving to the second round.
The thrid least likely, but more attainable outcome, would be for the best US effort to produce a 0-0 tie although this, too, is dreaming. But one point from this game means they MUST win against Ghana (and get some help from other matches) in order to advance.
Sad to say, the most probable outcome is a US defeat. The margin doesn't really matter. If Italy scores early, it could be like Argentina v Serbia-Montenegro.
The least likely outcome is if the US scores early and often. A really, really fast US score could floor Italy, but more likely it will just make them mad. But if the US manages to stay on top of a shoot out.... Hey, I can dream just as big as anyone...!

Na they won't Italy is a great team and losing 3-0 from the Czech Republic will bring their hopes down to win against Italy. And about that Dutch coach not every Dutch coach is good they should pick wisely .

They didn't lose on Monday, they got destroyed. I will be rooting for them, but I don't think they can beat Italy. I think you are right though we need a new coach. That lineup for the Czech game was horrible. Get rid of Beasley and start with Donovan in the middle. Everybody knows it so just do it. I hope USA soccer has a little more passion than it showed.

from day 1 I knew the U.S. has no chance getting through Czech and Italy, they probably won even beat Ghana. Seriously, Bruce Arena may as well put the whole Pittsburgh Steelers team on the field then at least we will get to see some hard tackling and red cards flashing.

No way! Yes, they will be changing there lineup agian. But Donovan can't do it alone and Italy is such a well balanced team. The Italians wait for their opportunities and then capatilize from it, look at their two goals. Plus the USA is no fifth or sixth seed, they are were overrated and that is why they were put in the toughest bracket to start with.

Well, Beckenbaur made a point about to many cards being handed out and if you watched that game, you would see why. The ref was terrible(Masteroni got ripped off). I live in the USA so i wanted them and they played a lot better then they did against Czech Republic. One other thing I noticed is that McBride is a soldier. He got jacked in the face and kept playing. You could just see how much he wanted to win on that play. I hope I am like him one day (since I am only 13). Overall good game and GO USA!!!!!

They do have a shot. They have to just forget about game 1!! They did great in qualifying tied with Mexico in the 6 team Bracket, only 1 or 2 losses in the 10 games. and going into the world cup they were ranked 5th where Italy was ranked quite lower (12th ?? I think).

We don't know yet! Cuz the ball is rolling all the time. But I'm on Italy's side for sure. Dutch coach can help? It was lucky for Korea 4 years ago. That will never be repeated again.
