Send copies of your articles to SI. They would be the ones to tell you if you should or shouldn't.

Highly unlikely you will start out writing for SI. Maybe you would be fortunate to write an article for them, but writing, like most forms of business, involves you starting at the bottom.
Go and write for a local newspaper so you can learn the in's and out's of the industry such as deadlines, how to deal with athletes, etc.
