OH MY GOD... I feel like this is me asking a question...

I JUST went through this. I had my period for a whole entire month and it just totally finished last week.

I am usually very normal. I mean I get it on the same day all the time because I'm on the pill. So I started late at first and then it just never went away.

I called my doctor and she said the same thing. That it does happen sometimes. Hormones are a ragin'. She said that it does happen to some girls (i guess you and I are living proof). She said not to worry.

Then she suggested that I take a pregnancy test to make sure I wasn't pregnant cause that could also be causing it.

One thing (knock on wood), you could have been pregnant and miscarried and thats why you are bleeding.

My doctor put me on a higher dose of "the pill" to see if that helps. So far so good.

I feel you girl! I totally sucks! If it last for more than a month and its heavy, I suggest that you DEMAND your doctor to take a look at you cause then I really don't think thats normal. Also, I mean, i don't know how old you are so if you are just getting your period then that could be a reason too. But don't panic or anything until you see a doctor. Cause it can be totally normal.

What kind of problems are you having? Are you on any types of medications? There is really nothing you can do on your own to change your menstrual cycle. If you don't like the answer your doctor is giving you, find another one. I know you said you didn't want an answer of go to the doctor, but sorry, there really is no other answer. Only a doctor can help. A doctor can prescribe birth control pills that can help to regulate your period for you. I had the problem of having very irregular periods, sometimes with them being very light but lasting a long time, and once I started taking the pill they were normal.

The first time I started taking the pill my period lasted for a month, the changes in hormones caused it. After that it was so regular that I knew exactly what day it would start ahead of time. My cousin also had the same problem as you do and was put on the pill to control it. If you haven't already, ask about being put on the pill to help regulate things. Good luck, I hope things get better for you soon. Monthly is bad enough, a month is torture!

Surprisingly, problematical periods are common. I know some girls who like you, have them all the time, and others who after getting on diff types of birth control had symptoms like these. Sometimes, though, birth control such as the pill can ease this and make your cycle more regular. You will have to decide what you want to do about this. How do you want to live? And after deciding, tell that to your doctor.

I have a somewhat similar problem, got my period 1 time when i was 17, didn't get it again until i was 19. went to the dr. i was told i have polycystic ovarian syndrome. she put me on birth control, it made my periods regular and light. i went off the pill for awhile, they stayed normal for a long time.but now im back on and everything is fine.

The only thing I don't see mentioned here is medication. You're not taking Arthrotec are you? It will make you bleed within an hour of taking it. High doses of aspirin could cause it too.
