Well biblically: Father Abraham. But, that isn't the question, is it?

Mulai Ismail (1646-1727)- By 1721 he was reputed to have 700 male descendents and over 350 female children.

I know that doesn't answer the question about recent history. I do know that John Tyler, former president of the United States, has the distinction of being the president who fathered the most kids from two wives.

The president that fathered the most children: John Tyler, 15. He fathered 8 by Letitia Christian Tyler whom he married in 1813 and 7 by Julia Gardiner Tyler whom he married in 1844. Tyler was past 70 years old when the last child was born.
How about Osama? There is no definitive account of the number of children born to Muhammed bin Laden, but the number is generally put at 55. In addition, various accounts place Osama as his seventeenth son. Muhammed bin Laden was married 22 times, although to no more than four women at a time per Sharia law

I watched something on VH1 the other day and there's some singer from like the 60's that estimates he was the father of 75 kids. He apparently set up a website that you could go to if you think you might be one of his children. I just wish I could remember who he was!

There is that mormon family... I think they are the Duggers. He has 16 children, all his own and his wifes.

I have a friend who is 29, and is already on his 10th child. He's well on his way to catch up to the Duggers. Though his children are from 3 different women.

Do you mean directly? Tough call, we have to look through the generations and also other cultures (hilltribes in Papau New Guinea for example).

If indirectly, and biblically speaking I imagine many will answer "Adam".
