It could be a corruption of the memory chips. Take it back to the vendor / seller immediately if under warranty, show them and get it replaced with a brand new one. Take the reciept with you. If this won't work, take it to somewhere that can verify if the 82% is usable and safe, and if the other 18% can be recovered. This advice should cost you nothing, but having the device repaired may cost you a bit. if the corruption is cancerous, throw it away immediately. it could infect your computer, destroying your hard drive and all your data.
