First off, it's called "Côte d'Ivoire" because they have an international non-translation policy in their constitution. This is French for "Coast of Ivory".

The capital is officially Yamoussoukro, but, in practice, Abidjan acts as the capital. Abidjan is also the largest city.

Hope I helped.

Yamoussoukro is the capital, and the "Ivory Coast" is called Cote d'Ivorie, because they are a French Colony and speak French.

Might not be called that for much longer, there is a massive civil war, if the rebels win who knows what will happen.
