The whole of yesterday I had only fruits and steamed beetroot ( my idea of a crash diet- day 1) betroot being the major chunk of my meal. Today when I excreted, my stool was reddish (beetroot color), is that normal?

I'm pretty sure you're okay, keep in mind that your stool resembles what you eat. Kind of like my 22 month old when I change his diaper....I'm not trying to relate your bowel movements to my baby boy however I am trying to say that when you eat something, it's going to reflect in your stool.
Example, when my boy eats peas, his poo is pea green in color!
I think you're experiencing the same thing....uh...without the diaper.

Of course this is perfectly normal. You are what you eat! Its no joke and I am not being rude to you. Your intake was beetroots and that is its colour so that will be the colour of what you let out in the toilet. Try mangoes and the colour will turn to yellow. There is no problem wih that but you shouldn't be on that diet for more than a week, it is too extreme.Eat some solids too, just less starches but not zero starches.

It's normal. Your stools will often resemble whatever it is that makes up the majority of your diet -- not surprising they look like beetroot :)
Uh, beetroot -- man, you are serious about this diet to eat mostly that! Good luck.

Yup, the dyes in the beets transferred to your stool. I don't think you are going about getting healthy the right way though. You should concentrate on eating a balanced diet, and a good exercise program. You need to adjust your eating habits to something you can live with. Eating only fruit and beets does not sound like a long term goal for weight loss.
Good Luck.

yes it is normal you may also pee in a reddish color its because some pigments in the beetroot tend to give its color to your stools and urine
don't worry

Not it is not funny at all, and no question is stupid - well, on this site, there are stupid questions.. but yours is not!
I also eat a ton of beets - great for the blood - and same thing happened to me once! It is normal - just like when you eat a ton of asparagus, your pee spells pretty bad - and this is normal also. Has something to do with the chemical reaction - similar to how the skunk makes it spray - yuck!!

Yes, natural and artificial pigments and dyes will be excreted. Eat a bunch of bright blue stuff and you'll see greenish the next day! After all, what use could the colors be in your skin or eyes?

Crash diet or not, eating beetroot always causes that. Very normal.

Ever heard 'you are what you eat', it's true. We do injest foods that change to color of our stool. Such as beets, especially if that was your main course. It's normal honey so don't panic. If you don't want the beet color you should of added more water to your diet. Water flushes the color out of your system. God Bless

I would think it's normal, being that it happened the day after you first started your diet. I did the same thing, except with like collard greens, and of course mine was greenish color. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Good Luck with your diet!!
