I have raised rabbits for 24 years and have had my fair share of problems with rabbits having colds before. First, you need to take notice of how long your rabbit has had the sniffles. If it's been over a week, it's definitely disease related. If it's less, it could be just allergies or some dust could have got in the rabbit's nose. In the past, rabbit colds were always assumed to be pastuerella. Recent research has proven that there are at least three different diseases commonly related to rabbit colds.
I recommend taking the rabbit that has sniffles the worst to the veterinarian. He can take a sample and find out which strain is actually causing the sniffles and prescribe the correct medicine accordingly. The vet can give you medicine that you can give to the rest of your sick rabbits as well. It may either be a water soluble drug such as Terramycin or it may be an injectable drug. If it's an injectible drug he can show you how to give your rabbits a shot and tell you how much to give them, how often and for how long. Normally a rabbit is given a shot in one of two places, either a subcataneous injection just under the skin behind the neck or directly into the back of the back leg joint and directly into the muscle of the leg. I prefer the subcataneous injection unless it's a shot that I want to take immediate affect. It's easier to hit a nerve in the leg. If it's an injectible drug you may need to store it in the refrigerator and shake it up before use.
You don't need to take all of your rabbits to the vet, just one. Most vets will give you medicine to treat the others. Also don't breed with any of the rabbits that have colds. They can transfer the disease by coming in contact, especially during breeding. Also, I believe susceptibility to the disease is genetically related. My dad and I had trouble with it a number of years ago and it go to the point where no drug would cure the rabbits' colds. We got rid of all of the rabbits that had a cold for over 1 week and we haven't had hardly a problem with colds or the sniffles for around 10 years.

The sniffles in rabbits is caused by three things.
1. The kind of bedding that you are using.....dusty wood shavings (especially pine and cedar) are always going to cause a problem for any small pet. I dont eve know why the sell it anymore.
2. Secondly, it is possible that your rabbit has a maloccluded molar. This is common with rabbits and when it happens, it pushes on their sinus tract because it is overgrown and painful, causeing somtimes watery eyes and sniffles.
3. ...and this is extermely possible, since you have already said that you are BREEDING rabbits. Anywhere that rabbits are bread, there is usually a disease that they are VERY suseptable to, (wether you take great care of them or not) its called pasturella. There is nothing you can do about it, once your rabbit has been exposed to another infected rabbit. It is next to impossible to cure, and they will eventually die. Since this is such a strong possibility....I suggest if you love your rabbit enough to dig up all your pennies.....take him/her to the vet asap.

Actually, if you take the one that is currently showing symptoms to the vet and explain that you have several others that may get sick since you know that this illness is contagious the Vet will probably be able to give you enough to treat the rest of them. She'll also advise you to separate the sick one from the rest that are not currently showing symptoms to try to keep the rest from actually getting sick. Most vets are willing to work out a plan.
