Use a weight distributing hitch and a truck that is rated to tow what you want to tow.

What I do, is learn to sight on the Boat and Tailgate. When you looking back over right shoulder you can see something to always use as your line up. Maybe the Winch on the Trailer or the Bow light on the boat. With practice soon you can almost have it on the Ball, just get out and winch it down. IF, you have the Trailer hitch just right it will slide on the Ball and you feel/hear it. Also, until you learn, remove your license plate as you mess it up quick.
Another approach some people use is a Mirror mount on the truck or boat so you actually see it align.
One last I know and it is cool, is a V that mount under the ball, think of the Ball being inside the V and you see what I say, it puts the Hitch right on every time.
Below the link show you the ez-hitch, and it ez to make. ;-)

well you didnt offer many specifics about the type of rig youve got but if its the usual, common rig theres only one way to do it. trailer hitches fit a certain size ball, most are 1 7/8" or 2" they need to match. you need safety chains from trailer hooked to bumper. you need tail, break, and blinker lights spliced into the wiring harness under rear of truck. what ever type of connector you use also use some dielectric compound in the splice {a couple bucks at any auto parts for a little tube} as far as alignment dont worry about it, most any trailer will "track" good enough unless youve got something really wrong with the trailer axle.

5th wheel or travel trailer ?
for a travel trailer - we were instructed by the people we bought it from and it's been awhile so let me think here.....you gotta crank up the front end of the trailer and back up so the hitch lines up. helps to have a partner to guide you. then you crank it down so it slips over the hitch and lock in place. install the stabilzer bars and chain, plug in the lights and you should be good to go. as far as adding an additional trailer for boat behind that rig - i dunno. it COULD be done but I don't know if it's allowable, I don't know the tow rating on your vehicle.....
