What jobs are immigrants taking from you?

I think that is an excuse for all (american citizens) welfare recipients to not work. Many American Citizens do NOT want to WORK for $10.00 an hour when they can get a check for free. Most illegal immagrants just want to work and support their families not be criminals. Our jails are full of TRUE AMERICAN CITIZENS. ... and for taxes they do pay taxes when they buy food/clothes and other stuff. They may not pay as much as you or I but then again they don't make as much as we do....

I have no problem with IMMIGRANTS. It's the illegal ones who
don't like to pay taxes that GIVE me grief. If there were some
way our folk could enforce THE laws that are already on the
books, we could do what is BEST for our citizens, as well as
citizens who lay in wait and BLOW across our borders in the
dead of night. If they want JOBS that pay less than minimum
wage, they can have them!!!!!!!!! Not a sermon, just a thought!

First, their is no such thing as welfare.

2ND I believe most recipients would work for $10,00 an hour, or $1,600 a month, about 3 times what they get on TANIF!

TANIF is a short term help for those in need. A recipient can only draw on this plan a max of 5 years per lifetime!

Many illegal immigrants pay nothing as their employers pay them under the table! Of course no Republican would work for their wages!!

It's true that there are some Americans who do not want to work.
But that does not dismiss the problems of the Americans who do want to work. When you are called into the boss's office and he says that he cannot afford to keep you as an employee anymore because he can get two mexicans for the same price, it means that they are taking your job. That's just plain and simple.
As far as the idea that they just come here because they want to work, go visit a prison once or twice. Up to forty percent of some prison populations are illegal aliens.
And then try hanging out in an ER for a while. See what kind of people come in. I've known many ER nurses, and they have said that the number one problem in the field is that illegal aliens come into the ER for minor problems that they should go see their family doctor for, but they do not want to pay for it. That problem has gotten so bad that many hospitals in the US have discontinued their ER's altogether so that they won't have to lose millions of dollars per year in uncompensated health care.
And last of all, by coming across the border, they are criminals to start with. They have to right to come here illegally. Try going to another country with no passport and see if they don't throw you in jail.

I agree with much of your statement - have seen it myself.

I would rather pay an immigrant (in many cases illegal or not)who shows up for work, works hard, is not constantly bitching about the job being beneath him, and sends his money back home to support his family. In many cases I would rather pay him $10 or $11 an hour instead of $8 because he does work to hard and gets the job done.

Just had an additional thought about this. I wonder if Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and all the other countries that the immigrants come from would trade more of them for some of our lazy, shiftless, complaining welfare recipients. Probably not.

Hey genius! Our jails are full of Amercian Citizens because we deport illegals who break our laws. We don't hold them in our jails. We also pay WAY more in income tax than in sales tax. Sales tax would need to be at around 20% to make that argument valid. Plus, most welfare recipients DO work and for much less than $10.00 and hour.

They're not taking any work from me. I went to school and studied and did what I was supposed to do so that I don't have to work hard for nothing. It's not a bad idea to make welfare recipients to work along side the illegals in the fields. As for the criminals, unfortunately, they are American citizens. Maybe we should empty our prisons like Castro did a few years back and put them on boats and let them sail to Cuba, if they make it. They couldn't possibly pay in taxes what they took to get in there. If you think anybody's going to feel sorry for them, you need to think again.

Around here illegals have been under bidding contractors for dry wall etc. I personally know the head of this group is here illegally and using his uncle ( who is a citizen ) ss# . These are not low paying jobs. As for the welfare recipients they should have to take the jobs from the illegals in order to receive a check. As to your question-Immigrants are not taking jobs from American citizens- they are American citizens.

Being that this is a capatalisitc society corporations look for any way to make more money.

One of the ways of doing this is exploiting foreign and illegal workers. By doing this it ruins the economy here.

The companies continue to pay a premium price, often for a sub-premium foreign made product, and invest less money in US workers.

We have had a our benefits taken away and watched our pay dwindle.

I used to make $65,000 a year PLUS have free benefits. Now I make 38k and have to pay for my benefits to compete with "outsourced" workers in other countries.

Meanwhile, the executive suite's financial compensation has gone through the roof!!! CEO's at Avaya, IBM, AT&T, and QWEST have made millions and millions even as most of their companies were not profitable.

If the American worker COULD work for 10 bucks an hour, have a family, own a house, and own a car we, WOULD do the jobs.

To make ends meet Americans have to go to school and get degrees or learn sopecific trades which leaves the non-skilled jobs wide open.

What we are looking at has been created by corporate greed not by lazy workers.

Welfare is the governments attempt to compensate for what they claim is the lowest wage you can make and support your family if you aren't making it.

I agree with you. Most immigrants do jobs that most Americans won't even consider. They are willing to work long, hard hours in sometimes awful conditions just to make minimum wage. A lot of them are nice people just trying to improve the lives of their loved ones. I don't understand how so many people can be such hypocrites about this situation, after all America as we know it today was founded by immigrants who took the land away from the Native Americans.
