I developed a spreadsheet which I have been asked to defend and convince several branches of my employer that it is the best. Other people have diffrent offers, but I know mine is the best. I do not want to be lt down by my presentation and inability to convince skeptics. How would you help?

Hello onelife!

You did not mention the time frame that you have been given by your employer to present your spreadsheet, but I am assuming it is in the near future. You have personal conviction, but seem to momentarily be lacking in the self esteem department, which is an absolute shame. You are positive your work is better than the others, so take a minute and think about why you believe that with such fervor.

Are your associates missing key elements in their calculations that will make yours more impressive and effective? Is there a specific area in your spreadsheet that you know certain branches will gravitate more to while you are trying to make an impressive statement to them?

Study your competition, study your skeptics... When it comes right down to brass tacks, use your assertiveness with the factual information you have to drive your presentation over the edge. Focus on what you truly want to accomplish the moment you begin presenting. Grab their attention and never let it waver. If yours truly is the best, as you are sure that it is, allow that self confidence to permeate through.

Best of luck to you!
M~

If you're referring to getting a job, you need to come across as competent and confident.
Put your points across clearly, concisely and objectively.

If you go in with the idea that you have an inability to convince skeptics then you've already lost the battle. Besides, sometimes the skeptics just want you to think they are so that they can judge your reaction.

Also take note that competent doesn't mean all knowing. If you don't know then just say it straight. BS always gets you in the end.

First check all spelling and grammar, any mistakes here will bring your over-all score down. Make sure of your facts. Use your company goals and motto's in your cover sheet. Your company has spent much time and money on decisions regarding this choice information. Use color to add to your spread sheet presentations. This adds punch even to the driest of information. Use company logos and your name both on the cover page and the closing. Good Luck & have fun don't forget to smile! Champagne

Power point is a great presentation tool. Check it out and see if this will help your presentation. Good Luck. And that idea of asking yourself questions in the mirror is brilliant.

If you want serious answers, I suggest that you change the way you worded the orginal question because I was about to say on the streets, but the thing is that we would need information. What is the topic? What are some of your ideas?

show and tell. words are empty show your employer that with your spreadsheet you and others can do the work faster and with less training (its easier) and then if you are truely confident you can ask the others to prove the same
also - if your sheet saves money or increases revenue in some way - let it be known

highlight the good qualities and strengths....and some employers like to hear about what your doing to strengthen the weaknesses

don't look at the floor maintain eye contact....give firm hand shakes......and while doing the presentation never turn your back to the person(s) you are presenting too.....try tools like a laser pointer to avoid turning around

good luck and kick @ss

EBay!

Just kidding. You need to exude confidence in yourself and your abilities. During an interview, dress nice, shake hands with a firm grip, and don't be afraid to look them square in the eye.
