Well, it's a little different when you invade a democratic country as opposed to a dictatorship. In a democracy, if the people don't like their government, they change it. You don't have that option under a dictatorship, so the only way to change it is through force. Since the citizens are often oppressed and organizing a resistance is illegal, they usually need to rely on outside help.
If someone invaded the U.S., we as citizens would unite and defend our country against the invaders. It would not be a situation like Iraq where most of the people welcome the invaders, while a handful fight against them. We as citizens own and are responsible for our government, and if it is overthrown it would have to be by oppressors, not liberators. We are already free, the people of Iraq were not.

That would all depend on who was doing the invading and what was their reputation. If it were the Taliban coming in it wouldn't matter what you call me I'll be fighting them. If it were Canadians I'd probably think it might be a nice change from Democrats and Republicans.
If Bush had been in power as long and Saddam Hussein and pulled all the things he did aginst his own people I'd at least give the invaders a year or two to see if they were going to be more like Hitler or General George Marshal.
I might want to start fighting the invader--but not as soon as the tyrant was overthrown. I'd at least wait till I saw what was going to be going on. But then I taste something first before I decide if it needs more salt and pepper.
To Kookoo: That I'd like to see-- Liberals defending this country. What would they do talk them into leaving?

If the gov't was overthrown as you hypotheisze, any one fighting against the invaders would be an insurgent, since the term means one who opposes any gov't or authority, such as a military authority. Insurgents are also known as rebels. This country started with an insurrection against the British, whose laws and taxation policies we rejected.
The English called the American colonists rebels, insurrectionists, and traitors. If we had lost that war, probably every one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence would have executed or imprisoned. Because we won the war, we changed our system of govenment around 180 degrees; we revolved it around, hence the term Revolution, and that war became known as the American Revolution. Other revolutions have been the French Revolution, the Chinese Revolution (from an aristocracy to commumism) and the Russian Revolution.
If we had no access to weapons and began attacking the enemy to demoralize them, by say running into packs of their troops with explosives and killing as many as possible, they would call those people terrorists and we would call them heros, because they gave their lives for their country.

We have the right to bare arms here. So if they did invade they would be in for a fight. This is my country. A lot of Brave men and women gave their lives to keep it free. NO ONE is going to come in here and take it away. Not while I'm still breathing. I'm not crazy about the Bush Administration. But he's my president and it's my Government. and we handle things ourselves. No one will tell us how we will live.

I don't know the invaders would call us insurgents, because i guarantee you 99% of the able bodied people would fight back. It is different i Iraq because a majority of the fighters are foreign and not fighting to get their country back.

I think if we were invaded the entire country would unite together to fight whomever was attacking us. I would like to think that the country, although split about how they feel about Bush and how he was running the country would unify together to keep our great nation alive as one country.

Why do you say "Bush loyalist"? Can you not ask a question without attaching him to it?
