Being a week late can be due to many things that don't include being pregnant (although Pregnancy is ALWAYS the most common cause of being late). The menstrual cycle can be thrown off by many things, anxiety, shifting hormone levels, a metabolic problem such as low thyroid function, disease such as polycystic ovarian disease, high levels of certain hormones, or being young and not having established hormone levels. So be careful with what you eat or drink during this time, in case you're pregnant, and if you're still not having a period after another week, then take another pregnancy test and/or go to your GYN for a check-up.

Try testing again after a couple of days - if you are pregnant, maybe your hCG (pregnancy hormone) had not had time to build up, high enough to be detected in the home pregnancy test. If it still show negative, then make an appointment to see your OB-GYN to know what's going on with your body. Maybe it is just a hormonal imbalance that you are going through (if you are not pregnant) - it can make you miss a period and have pregnant-like symptoms, such as sore breasts. You can also try to get a blood test done at the doctor's office - blood tests are more accurate and reliable and will be able to detect any small amount of the pregnancy hormone in the blood if you are indeed pregnant.
Goodluck!

Well sometimes your breast get sore when your cycle is late just because your body is reacting to your cycle being late. However you may also have gotten a false negative...which can sometimes happen with home pregnancy tests especially early in the pregnancy before you develop enough of the hormone for it to register on the test. Wait a week and if you still have not had your cycle you should go to the doctor. Even if you are not pregnant something is going on with your body that needs to be checked out!

You can always get a false negative, but one week late is nothing to worry about just yet. If you were pregnant, I don't think you would be sore this early. I have a 7 year old, I didn't feel any symptoms till months down the line. I think your just worried and you are thinking too much. Take another test in 2 more days. Buy another brand of test too. Don't forget to take the test in the AM.

It also depends on the brand of the test. The first time I got pregnant, I was paranoid. I bought three tests all made by different companies. I took all three tests with the same pee and 2 came back positive, 1 negative. So try another brand in a few more days. All else fails, see a doc.

Being late does not necessarily mean that you are pregnant, there are many things that can contribute to making you're periods go off track, stress being the major factor!!! I started my periods when i was about 15 and i have been irregular every since, when i was younger i use to have like 3 periods a year, give or take! Since i have had my kids i am pretty much right on time, but some months i am maybe a week late, does not mean you are pregnant, but if you are concerned consult your doctor to make sure!Good luck!

You can't tell after three days! I was three weeks late when I took a pregnancy test and the line was a very light pink. I didn't even think it was a real positive. If you want to know for sure go to the doc. for a blood test, or just wait a week and try again.

The tests tell you that sometimes the HCG levels are just not high enough yet to register on the stick and to take another one in a couple of days. Try it again. If you're still concerned, see the doc. He can do a blood test that will tell you for sure sooner than the pee stick.

Many times it will show negative for the first two weeks. Either wait and take it again, or go see a doctor.
