angee is a tree hugger. don't take her advice. i had the same problem when i used to live out in the country. i had a mole and pocket gopher problem. my neighbor luckily had some old metal traps that i used to catch them with. it won't be too hard for you to get your hands on them either i bet. what you do is find their hole, put a trap near the end of the hole, and cover the hole with an empty pop or beer box, so no light comes into their hole. this way they go to check it out and get snagged by the trap. you have to use gloves so they will not pick up your scent. go to a local hardware store and just ask about some metal traps. or you could always use a rifle and shoot the critters.

Well I have 3 dogs. After they have done their potty thing in the yard I take up the feces with a shovel, once I take the water hose and clear the surrounding dirt from the freshly dug mole holes I use the shovel to put the poo down into their holes. I've noticed less activity where there was several holes being made there is now less, much less activity it that particular area. Waiting to see if I get the same result in another area where I've noticed activity. I'll get back to you all later with those results once enough time has passed and I'm certain that the activity has slowed down.

I've heard of these two, and tried them without much impact: put chewing gum down their holes - chewed already?? I don't know. Anyway they supposedly eat it, can't digest it, swell up, and die. There are the sulfur-burning sticks that you light and stick down the hole to smoke them out. I always found the smoke emerging at some place where their burrow had been stepped on and pushed in; so I assume they could readily be on the other side and not have gotten the effect of the smoke.
What I've recently learned is that they come to your yard to eat grubs, so see if you can find a way to rid your yard of them. There is a company (Seventh Generation?) that sells a less toxic poison for these grubs. Good luck.

1. Dermatologists I've heard are wonders with moles.
2. Watch Caddy Shack.
3. I used to work at a zoo. We couldn't use poison for obvious reasons. We stuffed all of the openings we could find with rocks. We then put a hose down the hole. Eventually the little buggers needed a breath. Have the dog or cat on hand for that event. It is time consuming but it worked without poison.

They make Mole Traps/Mole killers for this purpose....Place mole killer over existing mole trail and cock...when the mole comes thru the tunnel, stakes fire off and kill the nasty little beast. If you see it has fired off, the chances that the mole is dead are very high. Poisons are dangerous, for if the mole comes up for air and dies, other animals will eat it and die...such as dogs! Moles can ruin a good lawn within days! Good luck
