I am planning an outdoor function to be held in Mesa, Arizona in September and I can't find any website that will tell me what the weather is like in this city at that time of year. Does anyone know the answer to this?

Mesa is warm (and dry) in September. If you want to find out what the weather is, google up weather and you'll find sites that allow you to plug in the city and the date.
Bottom line is, your outdoor function should be great. Just be sure you have tents or umbrellas for shade!

I got married near Mesa (Scottsdale) in September. The weather was beautiful. Warm and dry. It can be rather hot at times since it is in the Phoenix area.

Mesa is in a desert. I predict, from having lived there for over 20 years, that it will be hot and dry. Whew, that was difficult!
