Top 5 rivalries.

College:
1) Ohio State vs. Michigan - Always a good game and almost always determines a Big 10 champion if not a National Championship berth.
2) Army vs. Navy - Long history.
3) USC vs. Notre Dame - Again, long history that has been renewed since last season.
4) Florida vs. Florida State - In state rivalries are always pretty exciting.
5) Texas vs. Oklahoma - The states hate each other, how great is that formula for a rivalry? This takes a drop because of OU's lousy season in '05.

Honorable Mention: Florida State vs. Miami (FL); Michigan vs. Michigan State; USC vs. UCLA; Texas vs. Texas A&M; Auburn vs. Georgia; Indiana vs. Purdue

NFL:

1) Packers vs. Bears - Two of the oldest teams in the league and they're in the same division...how great is that?
2) Cowboys vs. 49ers - All of those NFC Championships in the late '80s into the '90s were always exciting.
3) Cowboys vs. Redskins - Classic cowboy and indian war.
4) Raiders vs. Chiefs - I could say the AFC West against the AFC West...this is probably the biggest rivalry of that division.
5) Browns vs. Steelers - Close proximity of the two cities...they generally hate each other.

Honorable mention: Bengals vs. Browns; Jets vs. Giants; Bills vs. Dolphins; Redskins vs. Eagles

And the winner...the all time greatest rivalry in all of football:

Ohio State vs. Michigan....no doubt about it.

Auburn vs. Alabama. Anything else is a pretender. Oh, sure, Michigan and Ohio State fans don't like each other. But I lived in Michigan, and the rivalry doesn't begin to compare to the sheer vitriol, the sheer hatred between Auburn and Alabama fans. Everybody else has their rivalry that begins a week or two before the game, builds up to gameday, and then there's a week's worth of bragging rights for the winner.

With Auburn/Alabama, it's alllll yearrrrrr long. Every day. Through recruiting. Through preseason. Through the college football season itself. It is one long struggle for dominance. And it really is a culture war at its very heart, because Alabama represents the old way of doing business n the state, while Auburn represents the New South.

What's more, nobody is allowed to be neutral. When people move to the state, you're asked to pick a side. Nobody sits on the sidelines in this battle.

I would have to say Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns. Why? Because take a trip to either city and tell them your from the opposite town and see how well your are treated. Not to mention a player from the steelers actually slammed a cleveland brown fan on the field. The rivary has been going on since the two teams came into the league. Bothe cities are with a short drive of each other.

For me that is the Mavs-Spurs competition because they have met contained in the playoffs 4 cases this previous decade and now this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. The drama is there and they continuously play large video games antagonistic to at least one yet another. they have been both maximum triumphing-est communities this previous decade and received 10 instantly years of fifty video games. Dirk and Duncan were both maximum proper potential fowards the previous decade and in all likelihood ever and that is been large because 2001. 2001 they met contained in the playoffs: Spurs 4-a million 2003: Spurs 4-2 2006: in between the most proper sequence ever that went to recreation 7 and had 2 previous universal time video games, the Mavs finally received 4-3. Dirk and Duncan were epic and in recreation 7 Dirk had 37 factors and 15 rebs with Duncan having 40-one factors and 15 rebounds yet Dirk saved this communities season with that 3 element play to deliver the game to previous universal time and win. 2009: Mavs 4-a million 2010: ???

Michigan and Ohio State, mostly because the people from both states that don't cheer for either of them normally, do for this game, i.e. the michigan state fan that cheers for michigan once a year. That and the fact that people in both states generally like to make fun of the other and their state. Oh yeah, and generally good football games.
