To pass on others advice my friend says you have to live with someone to really get to know each other before marriage. This sounds logical to know what you are getting into, but I know a few couples who did this and still got divorced. My husband would say not to get married - still not sure if he is joking or serious.
For a serious answer, if you are getting married in a church - most religions require a pre-marital course. If not religious, pre-marital counseling might not be a bad idea, even if it does not include a counselor. Discuss what both of you expect in a marriage and from each other. What your dreams, hopes, goals, etc. are. This usually comes up while dating, but you would be surprised how many people get married and then realize their partner doesn't want children and they do.

Learn to leave the seat down.
Learn to pick up your closes
Learn to wash your dishes
Learn to take out the trash
Learn to say "yes, dear"
And tell all your friends, goodby.
